Thanks, nice pics. Grew up on the Western region as the Westerns were being introduced, I have a soft spot for them.

'Twas a superb tour. 1015 performed faultlessly in less than perfect conditions; the climbs of the Lickey and up to Chapel-en-le-Frith with remain with me for a long time. :) Also a very wet standing start on a 1 in 60 at some wet & sodden junction somewhere in the Peaks was not too shabby either. :)

One complaint, Birmingham panel. We arrive almost 30 early and they keep us standing in the platform, waiting time, while every class 2 'stop-at-every-lampost' cart goes out ahead of us forcing us to stagger from signal to signal in the tunnels. What ever happened to train regulation - wouldn't have happened in the old days...mutter...complain....moan... etc. :) Thanks to all that make these things happen in the 21st Century! :) Video on the toob later.

    AK.

Sometimes they do try to get the railtour out first but it backfires - On the Great western Incursion control wanted to send us out before the Gloucester local but apart from Didcot Swindon was the only place with a garanteed departure time so we had to decline their offer and wait till booked time which meant that we had to go out behind the local despite the efforts of control! I think it's called SODS law!!!

Forgot to say thanks for taking the time to post the photos up Neil.

If you're a good boy perhaps Uncle Marcus will ask the DTG to see if they will let you borrow it for 2011!

Any news on Champion ? seems to have gone quiet of late, though i know one engine went away for repair, is she likely to clag in anger later in 2012 ?.
