Reading the latest GWS Echo, all the TPWS, OTMR is to go on whilst the remedy repairs occur under the supervision of WCR.

Surely she would not go straight out on a test run on the mainline without a further running in period I would of thought with the lack of knowledge on the matter I have?

If and when though, I'm hoping for a Bittern type running in from Southall to Bristol or Didcot to Bristol, would give me a better selfish chance of catching it in the wee hours!

I'm not in the habit of re-quoting lengthy posts, but I'm making an exception in this case, because everyone should read this, and those implicated should sit up and take notice - it's not big and it's not funny.

NatPres is well known for posts that drop hints without actually revealing the names of the parties involved. Is this because the posters are worried that what they are posting is possibly libellous? If what they are posting is true, why protect the guilty?

There may also be the consideration that if they do actually name names, there will be an outpouring of hatred from the supporters of the said organisation regardless of the facts of the matter. We can probably all guess where he is talking about.

A fair point I suppose but can we all guess where he's on about? I suspect there's a fair few that can't and thus the cloud of suspicion is spread far and wide.

Perhaps it's me, and how I read it, but I didn't think Frank was talking about a railway in particular, more a different preservation, that he is involved in, more the sea faring type?

It is easy to see how rumours can snowball, and railway x is being put forward as being on the brink, when in reality it is not the case.

We are in a very delicate position just at the moment. Accordingly I'm not going to go 100% public on this forum. Specialised forums are already discussing the problems described, as are senior and skilled enthusiasts, and businessmen, both inside and outside the operation, who just cannot believe what we are witnessing. I have pm'd those asking form more detail.

Eightpot and I have been here before and run up against the Masons and the City of London to the point where the Charity Commission rep ran away from the evidence down a corridor rather than even shake hands and consider the ten inch thick dossier prepared as evidence. I know because it was me he ran away from!

Fifteen years later - the events we predicted have all taken place - but its easier to be one of the establishment than a whistle blower. So to the doubters and denigrators of those who are prepared to take an overview and try to correct things that are going wrong, I can only say - in the interests of your chosen activity - if you see something going wrong - Don't stay silent! And please - please - if you have comments and observations to make - keep them professional and objective. If the other side turn personal that's a reflection on them - not your arguments - so as regards 6023 or 60532. Stick to the proven truth of any scenario if you want to make a point.

There is no satisfaction looking over the smoking ruins later and reminding people "We told you so years ago - but you wouldn't listen"!

Frank, are we talking about rail or water borne transport here please - surely at least that much can be revealed before the rumour machine goes into overdrive?

Well Bongo didn't name names but it still didn't prevent the outpouring of hatred against him from a select few, even though he was proved right in the end. I've seen copy of some of the PM's he received from people who still post on here. I've no reason to suspect that they were fake - too nasty to risk forwarding to someone who is effectively a stranger, if they were.

Just to give a little 6023 update, since at least early January it's been sat on one of the roads off the Didcot Turntable, with the tender alongside on another road

1: Trial by internet forum, like trial by lynch mob, is not a notably accurate form of justice.
2: Innocent until proven guilty is just a legal fiction, but its nevertheless a sensible way of proceeding.
3: You may honestly believe something to be true and yet be wrong.
4: "What is truth" may be an old question, but it still presents its difficulties.
5: Too much rumour may preclude justice.

I could continue, but on the whole naming and shaming as a policy is far more likely to preclude justice than it is to promote it. There is a reason why actual trials take time and careful thought, involving people whose job it is to understand these things.

I hope we hear from them soon because mid-march is approaching and that is when they said that firebox repairs would hopefully be complete.

I seem to recall one of the mags suggesting test runs on the Shakespeare type runs with no further running in.

Still sat outside as of Saturday. Been in the same place every time I've gone past on the train since January.

Was in Heritage i believe, however i'll only believe it when the things sat on 84E.

Hopefully shes not too long in coming as I believe once 6024 bows out that 5043 is the only availible Swindon express loco.
