Hmmm, maybe, but you never know! Technically, we've already had the double-headed Kings at the Didcot Railway Centre...

Braunton left Bishops Lydeard today on a low loader bound for Rileys Bury.

Apperently, Braunton has been listed for summer trip duties on Weymouth Seaside Expresses, and The Royal Duchy in May w/34067!

We shall see if the locomotive is ready by April, May or July at the latest for the beginning of mainline duties.

The engine is also scheduled to pull a couple of April Cathedrals Expresses according to the steam dreams schedule. Have to wait and see.

How would that work since Braunton is scheduled to pull the Royal Duchy with Tangmere on the 5th.

Would be 2 interesting light engine moves to and from Penzance to London if this is true...

Apr 29th... 34067 and 34046 on the Great Britain From Bristol to Penzance

May 3rd .. 34046 from Victoria To Exeter (apparently)
    and
May 3rd .. 34067 from Victoria to Faversham

    May 5th ... 34046 + 34067 Penzance to Westbury

    Do able but extreme.

The day before 4492 or 70000 is running Poole Oxford... So both could do the May 3rd jobs as more likely.

We are getting quite close to March, and 34046 is due on some quite good trips not many weeks after that. Like the London- Salisbury-Exeter run mentioned above.

I'd rather like doing the old ACE sections of that route behind a Bulleid again. I'm trying to keep an open mind, but am quite realistic to myself about the chances. Unless anyone here has any information on current progress with Braunton?

I've even had this raised by someone in Australia!

As mentioned in the GBV thread in What's Going On, 34046 has been replaced on the Bristol - Penzance leg of GBV, and the following week's Royal Duchy by 70013. I understand this is because she is unlikely to be main-line certified in time.

I guess that means she won't run any of the tours in April/May that she was pencilled in for. However, that's informed speculation on my part.

I would not be surprised if Ollie is called on to do Braunton's other jobs as well. I guess depends on what is at Southhall. Just read a couple post down that 60019 or 70000 were also possibilities. Clan Line to replace Braunton would be ideal but will a steam dreams tour with wcrc allow that?

Thanks guys, that's very helpful news. If not good news, but that is the way things go. Not been following the GBV thread, which I've just checked.

Would be lovely to get Clan Line on Salisbury to Exeter, but I think the chances of that must be very, very low.

Remember her leaving Salisbury on the down ACE after the SR lost that section, so my seven day rover didn't cover that section. I was stood at the end of the platform chatting with that true gentleman, Fred Hoare, who had brought 35028 down from Waterloo. 2 mins late off Waterloo. Severe temporary speed restriction at Allington and a signal stop outside Salisbury. Yet we arrived on time. My best down ACE run. July 1964.

Hoping to get a taste of 34046 on a Bristol - Weymouth this year so fingers crossed she's certified before the end of this season's runs.

35028 worked with WCRC in december 2010 on a steam dreams tour with 44932. But it's still doubtful that you'll see Clan line on the tour, probably will be olly.

34046 has now appeared as the "rostered" loco on a few more SD trips including the Alresford to Ely run in June. I wonder if she will be ready by then?

Ian Riley's forum, The Works, reports that work is progressing steadily. The air-brake system seems to be the main focus.

I wonder why Braunton was added to the Cathedrals Explorer for the first segment oF the Cathedrals Explorer. Is this an indication that she will be ready?
