We were over the S&C yesterday, I hope the weather is better for Saturday, we had fog higher up but at lower levels it was grand. I posted elsewhere that the S&C is a magical place, however many time you go it still is, it doesn't matter whether it's a DMU, a diesel hauled job, or steam. Steam hauled over there is the peak, the best, the Concorde trip.

70013 has stops at Appleby and Hellifield on Saturday - does she take water at both or is one or the other?

I can't find tomorrow's CME on open train times website on the S&C, Uk Railtours is there, as are all the diesel freight paths. Is this something to do with the website, does it not always get everything?

In the past it's been a quick top up at Appleby from the tower, then it means that the Hellifield stop with the slower fill should be completed in the 16 minutes allowed.

Thanks very much Ralph, planning to see it at Armathwaite and Kirkby Stephen if possible.

You will have to be quick then as the Appleby stop, although scheduled for 24 minutes, can be just the length of time it takes to top up, 10 minutes or so..

The timings (on UK Steam) are also 6 minutes Appleby to Kirkby Stephen, which is pretty unrealistic. At a guess the stop is supposed to be 14 minutes (instead of 24) allowing 16 minutes (instead of 6) to get to KS.

I did manage to chase either side of Appleby last week (Newbiggin to Gallansay) but it was very tight - minutes to spare.

The TRUST times for Kirkby Stephen are 1558 I'm sure rather than 1554 as on UK Steam. It's 40 miles from Armathwaite to where I want to go above KS but I reckon I can do it in time.

I can't find it at Carlisle either - arrival or departure - even when I'm on the "advanced" view. Strange ...

It was on open train times yesterday. Printed off activity at carlisle during our lay over there. Must be 25 years since I last filmed the activity there.
Looking forward to a superb trip tomorrow.
    Regards,
    John.

Not that surprising...WC have always been a bit publicity-shy and secretive. I wonder what they were complaining about, presumably idiots phoning them up with daft questions?!

Chaps, (981Smithy & SGTompson) I very much enjoyed your efforts from today, isn't it funny what a difference a change in the weather brings - out comes the sun, out come the 'fair weather' photters - like bees around honey! Lol!
