One of the (many!) components on the grate, pictured upside down. The T-shaped slot slides over a transverse bar connected to the rocking mechanism. Once had to remove hundreds of the suckers from the firebox of 80151, which has a similar arrangement...

    Do I win £5?

Indeed, a part of a rocking grate. Fun to deal with when the whole shooting match has been mishandled and jammed solid.

According to H.A.V Bulleid's biography of his father, after the Southern had built new Bulleid designed tenders for 'Green Goddess' and 'Northern Chief', Bulleid and Missenden promised the RHDR a pair of scaled down MNs, and the plan was only scuppered by the preparations for nationalistion. Does anybody know if this is true, whether drawings were prepared for the proposed locos, and if so, whether there is a publication in which they might be found?

At least a 15 inch gauge Bulleid pacific is a more realistic idea than most of the head in the clouds new builds that keep popping up.

Well quite! I quite like the idea of a Malachite 21C1 doing 25 on the RH&DR!

How long would it last before needing a major rebuild! ;)

Some nice ones here: Building Bulleid's Locos

But nothing in 15" gauge as far as I can see.

Does anybody know if there are images of Merchant Navy's in Wartime Black (black and white or colour). Most pictures I seem to come across are of them in Malachite Green or in BR livieries.

I think it would have been great if there were some 15inch Bulleid's running on the RHDR. What scale is the Eastleigh Lakeside Railway as they are building a replica of 21C1 but I'm sure its a smaller scale.

Saturday 8th October 2011 Channel Packet was named at Lakeside, built to 2 1/4" to the foot or 1:5.3. Now in service.

Likewise, someone probably on the same forum, has listed the Bulleids at a certain location in Lancashire, 35018 is not amongst them.

Maybe one day we will get to the bottom of this mystery. Maybe someone could hire Scooby Doo and the mystery gang to solve this one.

There's no mystery that I can - it's still at Portland we're told. Therefore the rumoured sale hasn't happened, or the new owner hasn't arranged transport yet. Where's the mystery?
