It's a shame it's not April as I would say that they got an extra 100 gal by removing the water scoop gear from 3119 :)

I think the modifications to 3119 was a provision for track level water filling valve - but I may be wrong - and the addition of some internal bracing as the tank was weak. You can see may photo's of Bulleid tenders in the twilight of their working life's with ugly patches on the outside due to welds splitting and etc

    See a shot of 34025 as an example - Hi-Res R0724 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Nice photos David. I see you cropped the middle shot - I didn't need to duck down out of the way in the end then! I thought the lack of steam over Alton at 10.45 wasn't a good sign. If I'd realised the Thumper was out I would've gone for a better shot. I thought the Bulleid sounded a bit rough! Shame 31806 had the Pullmans behind the tender as well. Still, win some lose some.

I opted for Bowers Grove lane - I had to be away by 11:30 and this spot enables a quick getaway - did manage a distant shot of the Thumper at Northside on the way to work though!
Lee- no idea about 34007, shame to miss her, but the better weather than expected meant I got a half decent shot yesterday. Another phottie I spoke to said 34007 eas at Ropley with various people examining her drain cocks!

Just seen there is an update on the Cheltenham Blog and the boiler is in the frames. Can't wait to see her at the Autumn Gala on the MHR.

As I've got an unexpected day off this coming Saturday 3rd March, I was wondering whether the Loco roster info on the website is correct - it has Wadebridge and the 9F working. It's been a long time since I caught either in steam! Any help gratefully received!

I did hear 92212 and 34007 are both on duty this weekend. 31806 is out having an exam this week and 850 and 45379 are still away on their holidays.

I heard last sunday that 850 was due back either today or tomorow, so should be 9F and 34007 this weekend. :)

92212 was in steam yesterday being prepped for the weekend. 34007 also in steam.

850 was due to arrive last night. 5224 taken down to ALR as a return load for the low loader.

Thomas now re-assembled and fire lit - now heading for a steam clean and re-paint.

Tornado on a film charter (?) at ALR

Dunno, but it sounds like a reasonable guess

That's three locos that have left or are leaving the MHR. Does anyone know if the other YUSA tank has left yet?

The second Yuga tank was in the headshunt on Wednesday, but I guess it won't be there long. Anyone know where the Yugos are going?

I know that 73129 didnt mean it to sound like there was an exodus from MHR - but in the last year we've also had 3 arrivals: Cheltenham, 80150 and 34058. Thats certainly putting a lot of pressure on siding space and in the long long long run I suspect these three will be more useful to us and be much more appropriate to the SR area.

The last time I counted there were 25 steam locos based at MHR - there are very few heritage railways with a larger stocklist, nor so many large locos. A very quick calculation tells us that we need 500-600yds of siding space just to accomodate them all!

I believe the Yankee/Yugo tanks are heading to Barrow Hill roundhouse.
