Well, there's a few miles of pretty much continuous 1 in 100 on the way up to Ais Gill, but given 5043's recent form on the Northern Hills, then given decent coal I'm pretty sure her crew will give it a go!

As for Lizzie; I'm gutted for her team & also the pax on the train; here's hoping 5043 can compensate, with a rousing run to Ais Gill :)

That is one of the best videos i've seen for a long time for shear exhibition of power, 5*!! Something you would never see on a preserved line that's for sure. Very sorry to hear of Lizzie's problems but i'm sure 5043 will be more than capable.

If a black five can do 12 I'm sure the Castle will do the climbs with ease

Any news of which box on 6201 ran hot ? It will have a bearing on how long it takes to repair.

    David

Edit: 6201+support coach is following behind 5043, dep Carlisle 16:32 for Blackburn and Carnforth, so it can't be too serious.

I just heard the same a few minutes ago, better get off if I want to see this and 70000 at Warrington BQ.

Oh, and 5043 was going great when I saw her at Langwathby earlier, though I got a bit of a suprise when Lizzy was missing!

Now I'm definately looking forward to seeing the video's of the Castle going solo over the S&C with 11 on, shame about 6201 but at least she's on the way back to Carnforth so it can't be too serious.

Sorry to hear about Lizzie but luckily in this instance the Earl was there to stop it being a complete jobstopper

As said above it will be good to see video's of 5043 climbing up to Ail Gill solo, it's rare she has to take 12 or equivelant and im sure the bark will almost make up for the loss of 6201.

If DBS aren't quick with their loco change at Crewe the Earl will catch them up. Perhaps 5043 will be held en route to Crewe until P12 is clear?

5043 passed Euxton junction 19.07 on slow line. Waiting for Pendolino to clear then hopefully off to Crewe. 6201 reported in sidings at Appleby.

Looks like a challenge for the Blue Riband is in the offing; be interested in the point-to-point timings. Suffice to say 5043 was 20 mins early at Ribblehead - and in glorious sunshine.
