I wonder if the timing between the 19th Cathedrals Express and 21st Red Rose would be a bit much. 2 light engine moves and 2 trips in 4 days time. 4-5 days in steam?

No doubt Ben will be on here soon enough. There have been mysterious disappearances of trips from the VT website before, only for them to reappear soon after so don't jump to any conclusions yet.

Yes trip has been cancelled. I received a letter from vintage yesterday saying that there wasn't enough bookings.

Yes sorry chaps, but the plain fact was that we ran this job last year with 5043 and although it was not what you would call full, a lot of people professed themselves happy and said would we do it again. One seasoned railtourer of some vintage , even went as far as to declare it the best railtour he had ever been on, with a lot of fast running on the WCML and storming climbs of various hills which we encountered, so we decided to pop it in the programme again this year with Lizzie, which we couldn't remember ever going quite along this route, and after all it is LMS.

Regrettably it has received nowhere near the support which we were led to believe existed by last year's comment and so have had no alternative to cancel, as it had not reached break even, let alone pay the loco hire fee!

Regards and thanks to those who had supported it

    Bob

But lets not forget they bent the rules a bit on one of the 'various' hills.
The real tester of Miles Platting is the start from a dead stand in the platform at Victoria, now there are videos showing 5043 storming through the platform having started from the other end.... :nono: :tongue1:

It's not my video, so I'll not take the credit, but yes the exclamation at Wigan was very much apt. It seems that Wigan is now the place to pass 'briskly' as the line curves on the approach so the train bursts spectaculaly into sight quite close.

Found this from last weekends effort again 5043. In the dark but still pretty awesome.
