Yes, finally after several months on the CVR and Cauldon lines we started work again on the Stoke line. What a selection of weather there was today snow ,sleet, hail, rain, high winds and even some nice sunshine. We have started at Leekbrook working on fishplates and spraying the elastic spikes with easing oil on the sleepers that require changing. these spike tend to rust in the chairs and can be a devil to shift, so we're hoping that when we come to remove them it might make life a bit easier. Just three photos of the gang today 1. Sheff trying to loosen the fishpate nuts. Heaven knows when they were last undone, but they seemed worse than the Cauldon line when we started that. The second one is John in usual pose, pretending to clear the ballast and dead roots at the sides so we could lie the bance flat to get to the nuts. The third one I could not resist the gang caught out on a hailstorm. Thought they looked like a group of penguins.

I'm a newcomer to this forum, but am following this project with great interest!

If this has been talked about before on here, then I apologise for bringing it up again (searching through 105 pages is just too slow!), but is it possible that MCR would use the original station at Alton Towers rather than build a new one? The original is intact, except for the missing buildings on the down platform and those could be rebuilt couldn't they? Would the Landmark Trust consider allowing the station building to be used for its original purpose - maybe by leasing it to MCR so it continues to provide income to them? The original station had 2 through platforms and a bay road, with the up platform being 12 coaches long - more than enough capacity I would have thought for the traffic Alton Towers Theme Park could generate? The footpath would need to be diverted around the station to let both tracks be relaid through the platforms, as well as the bay road.

Regarding Oakamoor, is the station going to be rebuilt since the platforms survive? Also what state are the 2 railway bridges over the Churnet in (on both sides of the Tunnel), the one next to the station has a 3 ton weight limit on it from photos. Is the Tunnel sound, and who owns it?

For a minute I thought you were Port Vale Fan that would make 2 of us on here. The MCR do tend to keep their plans close to their chest as most private companies do, so no ideas on Alton or Oakamoor. The bridge north of the tunnel was cleared by the council several years ago, and as we were working down there at the time had a look at the bridge. It seemed in very good condition then, so I should think it would require little effort to bring it back to working condition.

I see on the MCR Facebook page, there are a couple of pics of the new fencing and gates at Endon.

That would actually make 3 of us, half the gate. Why not go the whole hog and go to Uttoxeter? lol

We finally got our Permequipe back from it's extended holidays on the SVR, so we took full advantage of it's return. Starting at Cheddleton down to Consall where a couple of sleepers were changed, to Fishermans Crossing where more sleeper work was done. Then to Froghall pick up some equipment then to Cauldon doing a couple of jobs on the way. Then the best bit from Cauldon down part way on the Stoke line, checking work done last week and then back to Cheddleton, What a good day. A couple of photos the last showing the lagging being put on the S160 in the shed. The others could be part of the p/way equipment after a bit of restoration work.

That's right in politician terms 'could be' is a straight answer, and anyway it's only two words not a whole paragraph.

Has the village green application been thrown out yet? Or has it still not been heard yet?
