I have just seen timings for 1Z30 Manchester Victoria to Edinburgh - 05.22 outward from Victoria - is this the same tour???

If so - someone is taking the proverbial!

Well if it is as on RTC site then yes it's not on, surely a slot an hour later would have been available. Glad I'm not stewarding on it now.

Is this the train Mr & Mrs. Victor are on? If so will he be sleeping on the station overnight with a bottle of malt to keep him warm?

And as I've mentioned elsewhere 8 hours from Dewsbury to Edinburgh via the ECML is out of order. God knows what happened at the Berwick water stop, the road tanker was there, the 47 turned up in good time but it was a long wait. We won't be repeating that for a long time. Unacceptable. 70013 went very well when it was allowed to do...........but 8 hours......no,no,no.
3 hours in Edinburgh and 4.5 hours back with the 47.

Let's be honest - timings like that are why I give up on the business planning of these organisations. 05.22 out means I might as well not go to to bed the night before, or be up and about at 04.00, and then spend the day wrecked. The first hour onboard will be in the dark, and of course on the way back there are the inestimable pleasures of stops, trapped on board, at wayside places like the back of Tescos in Lockerbie for water.

If I want to window hang near the loco I now have to buy a first class ticket - to stand! or get some arsey steward throwing his weight about destroying the pleasure of the run for me

There will be NO public transport inbound so I would have to drive - if there are any car parks open - or book a hotel and walk in - more expense. In my own personal situation I would just bin the outbound and use my rail facilities to join the tour where the steam comes on.

These are no longer ADEXs they are are ENDURANCEXs

Oh dear I have to agree with Frank in one respect, if I had been booked on it I would be on the 9.09 out of Crewe, Edinburgh 12.22, for £23.45 or even £42 first class advance....

Great coverage as even Steve. Someone was keeping a very clean fire, no dark smoke at all.

Love the glow from the firebox in that last shot at Strickland, very atmospheric.
