I am sure that for many this train provided great photos and videos. Those on board knew that the diesel on the rear was providing assistance due to fire risk.

Great video, the footage at Great Strickland is something else. It looks as though some of the carriages didn't have their lights on in the footage at Lancaster.

If they run one of these in the future, they need to consider using the Class 86 Les Ross (instead of a Diesel )to get a quicker path to Edinburgh.

The steam section from York to Edinburgh was 6.5 hours, which is a very poor path compared to the following : -

Tornado was covered this section twice in 4 hours( Top Gear run and Christmas Coronation),
60007 just under 5 hours ( Actual with 2 water stops) on The Coronation 2009 ( second one)
60019 with double tender just under 5 hours( actual with pathing stops at Durham and Berwick) on The Coronation 2010 ( third one).

Some lovely coverage of this tour. Nice to see an all matching rake although appears that several coaches had no lights working.

Good to see 70013 complete more successful trips after the difficulties going to Cleethorpes.

Maybe, but can you imagine the hysteria that would cause when it was on the back for the return run.
But as the stock is limited to 100mph you would not gain very much over the 47 at 95.

I don't think there would be any complaints (from passengers) if the pantograph was down on the 86 as you can then be absolotrely certain it's not assisting (this happened when 6024 ran from Leeds to Kings Cross some years back with a 90 on the back). As for saving time, it's not just the top speed - the acceleration away from stops and checks is much better on an 86 (as discussed on here last year when the 86 was unavailable for an SD tour to Carlisle which had to be cancelled/postponed as a result).

Some pictures of Oliver Cromwell at MOSI on Sunday morning - little bit of steam from the night before still creeping out and oily from the night before. Apparently due to leave early Saturday morning.
