It's such a shame cos they'd come so close. A few weeks ago it seemed 6046 was only a paintbrush away from running, now it appears they'll have no steam for a key time of the year.

They'll certainly have my support when she does run

To be fair they were offering this last Sunday as well; forgot to mention it as I was very happy to have 33021 to Cauldon Lowe - in fact I am more likely to return for that than steam

Special notice on website re Easter running 104 DMU Fri, 104 DMU Sat, 33021 Sun, 33021 and 104 DMU Mon, 104 DMU Wed,

Pity steam not quite ready, but the line still well worth supporting over the Easter period

Just to add, Foxfield has and will be running steam throughout Easter if anyone is visiting Staffordshire. Also we have a cracking website that is updated regularly with NO paid staff!

The timetable shows the problems that heritage railways are having. The number of operating days is much reduced from earlier years.
With it costing the best part of £2000 to run a steam train for a day the number of days when its viable is smaller than you would think. The special events ( Thomas, santa etc) become more important.
It seems as though the length of railway is increasing but the frequency of operation reducing. I wonder if that is viable in the longer term?

Martin and his small team have done an incredible job considering their numbers. She really is having a quality job done inside as well as out.

Apart from October 7th, these are currently the only planned DMU workings on the Cauldon branch for 2012, and certainly the only planned public workings (of any traction) for the Oakamoor section, which is a nice run from a scenic point of view.

Thanks for that Chris. I might head up there on Sunday 20th. D you know how far down towards Oakamoor the DMU will run? I've been most of the way on a photo charter a couple of years ago, I think about half a mile short of the sand terminal. Be nice to finally ink in that last bit of track!

There are a trio of rather "non passenger" points in the throat of the sidings themselves so the furthest passenger trains generally go is to the south end of the loop which as you probably know lies just short of the sand sidings themselves. I would be extremely surprised if trains were to run into the sidings proper as they have never done so before on previous specials.

All of the sand loading infrastructure at the railway sidings has now been demolished, so only stored coaches down there now! Scenes such as this no longer possible sadly!

Seems to have gone unnoticed, but the website has had a complete overhaul/rebuild/*insert other railway related pun about thorough work here*. Still under construction, but already a big improvement on the previous one.

I think I personally preferred the previous website, but then again I don't like change!!!

Also the "Webcams" are missing! :-(

I hope that is just a short term thing as other parts of the site are still "under construction"
