No I do not currently volunteer
When a freight goes the other way with 6 locos on the front you know you are in the doo doo.

Yes I am an active volunteer
One of the hazards on North American train watching -- it s not going to pass anytime soon if it has 6 loco s on the front -- liked the dynamic whine on the downgrade , but preferred the beat of 3751 upgrade ......

Absolutely fabulous - even getting bowled on Cahon had its upside with the warbonnets in the consist - Made me feel quite at home it did! Petrol at £2.00 a gallon - even chasing is cheaper and it ends with dinner at Rod's Steakhouse in Williams and a pint of Fat Tire

What the hell am I doing here in the UK? I wonder if they got frost in the early morning at Williams - at 7,500 feet we did in May in 1995!

Shame about the shot on the curve leaving Williams not being complete - it simply made me homesick! Then to follow that with the San Francisco Peaks - the first place I found that Englishmen can't run at 10,000 feet!

I'll bet they didn't have cowboy hold ups or sing alongs on that train to the Canyon!!

The trip Concluded on the 19th.
However some of the larger clips are starting to appear.
ATSF 3751 Grand Canyon Excursion Train "Return" May 19th, 2012 - YouTube
Santa Fe 3751 - Grand Canyon Limited Preview - YouTube

Note: much of the Trackage in Arizona was on a regional railroad with speeds of no more than 25mph. I took the clips that had the train going at faster speeds through California.

It is hard to believe that 3751 is one year older than engines like 46115 being a 1926 product of Baldwin Locomotive works. Santa Fe made many modifications to the 3751 class of 4-8-4's. They had 3 classes the other two are the 3776 series and the 2900 series. The 2900 class of the 1940's are the largest of 4-8-4 in America. Be on the lookout for 2926 in the near future!
    Some more shorter clips
