The super heater header is not fully installed yet, so no. The plan as of the weekend was for the boiler to be heated through, thoroughly checked over for any problems and then allowed to cool sufficiently to allow the header to be fully assembled, followed by further steamings.

All sounds good as looking forward to seeing it running on the SVR.
I would be interested how the process goes for the testing and running in of what is effectively a new loco

Judging by photos on the SLL Picasa site, the fitting of 34053's superheater elements looks to be just about complete. A step further towards operation...

It appears that the loco has been over the dynamic weighing system in P1 as well. That's another step towards commisioning once all the weighing and balancing has been sorted out (if needed!).

I was in Bridgnorth 'Box today; 34053 was cold, being generally prodded and poked by the SLL and SVR guys.

Bulleid fans will enjoy the current edition of Steam Railway, which appeared in my letterbox this morning. Obviously, those of us that look at this forum will already have been aware of the latest developments regarding 34053, but I don't mind seeing a few more pictures. According to SR, the plan is that 34092 City of Wells WILL be going main line, although its first year in service will be spent on the KWVR. Also, West Coast and not Ian Riley are the new owners of 35018 British India Line, which makes sense (Hard to think Ian Riley would have sent it to Carnforth). Restoration will commence (or perhaps, in light of work done on the MHR many moons ago, resume?) when Galatea is finished. While people on this forum are keen to remind us all that you can't take everything in SR as gospel , assuming these reports are accurate, it's very good news. By my reckoning, in about 18 months' time we should have 10 active Bulleids (34007/27/28/46/53/59/67/70/92/35028). It has been a few years since there have been so many, and what is more, 35006 and 35027 shouldn't be far behind - along, perhaps, with one or two others?

Don't forget 34081. With a fair wind you may be able to add her to that list.

Not forgetting 34105 as well which by all accounts is progressing nicely!

Hopefully 34039 will be in hot pursuit as well (fingers crossed).

A lot will depend on how much cash is left over after the boiler is finished - currently close to budget - as the more tasks we can put out to contract, the faster we can get her done.

Quite a bit of Bulleid news from them in the last 2 issues of SR after they said in the l;ast one about 35011 being back converted.

With so many Bulleids now in steam or about to enter service again can someone please please please convince a preserved railway to have a Bulleid gala/fest. I'm sure this event would be well attended. Just look at this thread it's almost always on the first page of the steam section.

An idea for the MHR for next year to follow on nicely from this years planned Maunsell gala?............. also fits in nicely with the 90th anniversary of the big three!!!!!

Don't the Bluebell currently have the record for most in steam Bulleids at one event which is 4 at the Giants of Steam Gala in October 2007 which had 21C123, 34007, 34081 and 34028 in steam. I think Eastleigh 100 at one stage had 4 with 35005, 35028, 34028 and 34070 but 35005 had been withdrawn at that point.

I think another Bulleid Gala would be great wherever it takes place. Barrow Hill? Seeing as they haven't done a Southern Gala but have done galas for the GWR, LNER and LMS.

Great to hear hopeful plans for 34092's mainline return. All she needs is the Giesel ;)

What, you mean LMS, LNER and Southern? Now, I really WOULD like to see a gala with nothing but Bulleids! Call it what you will- Bulleid Bash, Bulleid Bonanza, SpamFest...

It's a shame copyright issues would probably preclude 'Spamalot'...
