They could always ceremonially light the first fire in 4472 using the Olympic flame at the nrm before going off in 46115... That would make news headlines.

From elsewhere. "The transport will be by road, no running-in has yet taken place. The NRM are 'pacing' the overhaul completion to ensure quality, reliability and value for money are maintained."

Those are Ian Riley's own words on "The Works" - so he should know

They may achieve the quality and reliability, but I think they are already way past achieving the 3rd goal!

I suspect that part of the delay since Riley's correctly identified the actual issues is the NRM are having to carefully watch the cashflow.

If you get the chance to see the pictures of re-assembly, the quality of work is stunning.

Their can be no excuses now......

Riley's work is always first rate. An overhaul with Riley & Son may appear to cost more than from other sources, but in the end it always works out cheaper.

I think this cloak & dagger stuff between competing forums is childish & stupid. Joe bloggs won't post on that forum, Fred Carno won't post on this forum. People should grow up.

She will be there - static - but a credit to the thorough and professional work done by Ian Riley's lads. Yes it has been more difficult than originally thought - but after the previous stewardship ...............

Agreed... People, stop fearing of the name IN THE WORKS... Like Buseng said, Grow up!
the work gone in can clearly be seen now for all the sceptics who have said that nothings happened, just head over there and look at the photos.

Just remember that some people may not be members so won't be able to see the pix. Also, a few people have reported problems getting on to the Works forum in the last day or two.

Mr Riley's comments suggest that they are just putting together enough for it to look right. I presume it's going back there after Railfest to finish off the job and get her steaming again.

It's well worth popping over to the works to see the pics as they're very good :) Ian has also stirred things by saying that the smoke deflectors & double chimney are staying on for railfest, off course leading someone to ask if they're coming off afterwards?

Thanks for clarifying the situation, just hope T.W. doesn't mind having their links posted on here.
