Thanks. If 34007 is out and about during War on the Line, I'll be there!

Great news about 34007. Any chance she will run as a BoB again?

Dont get too excited about 34007 - the operative word was "could".

Post by 'Factfinder' removed as it contained defamatory and potentially libelous language. The response by Ghost also removed as it was no longer relevant.

Reading Railway Mag today. The MHR are looking at repainting out of ticket 31874 back in to BR black for the September gala and displaying the loco in Ropley yard.

Hi Chris, what John says is true.

It wasn`t worth reading as far as the accusations made were without foundation and were clearly a vitriolic attack on the MHR.

Most of the post was clearly referring to a previous MHR period that is firmly in the past.

One thing i will say is`Factfinder` clearly does not want to take up your offer that you made on this forum, although the one positive thing he did do in his post was to praise you and the wagon groups efforts and achievements on the railway.

Getting back to MHR restoration, i would love to see 31874 back in BR Black, even if only static for the September gala, as i have fond memories of her time in traffic and i still remember the magical feeling, i felt as a young boy seeing her pass through the red ribbon on the re-opening train at Alresford, way back in 1977.

All this talk of moguls has just reminded me of an interesting snippet in the 925 photo charter invite - they hope to do a mini charter with the U boat later in the year, with her facing smokebox out of Alton.

I assume this will happen after she's been to the SVR gala and not before - and by the same token could this possibly mean that the black five will also get turned to face out of Alresford ( it would make a refreshing change)?

Just thought of another one! Which way is the 9F likely to be facing when she comes back from the Bluebell?

Thanks Andrew, and please note that I was only kidding around with the Mods so if I have offended anyone I apologize in advance.

I have a very good idea who this factfinder is actually, it is so sad that people cannot move on.
    Best regards

I didn't ask while I was in the workshops today but I'd guess that 34007 won't be running this weekend. The remaining job on her was to repair one of the lubricators and it turns out it needs a new shaft to be made. So its not had a test run since the valve/cylinder/exhaust steam pipe work and its not got a warming fire in it for the weekend. Its not impossible that it could be ready for the weekend but it doesn't look likely to me.

Todays activity was mainly on the S15 (30506) with ongoing re-arrangement work.

It would be nice to see 45379 facing out of Alresford. I think it's awaiting game to see which way round 92212 will return. I've asked before who decides which way round the locos return. But I've never found out who makes the final decision. All I can say is when a loco is delivered to Alresford it can to taken off the lorry in both directions.

    Agreed!

But thinking more about the 9F, it would make sense for her to be facing out of Alresford - otherwise I feel that there would be an imbalance in the number of engines facing out of Alton.

'As' it stands at the moment 850,925,31806 & 45379 out of Alton and 34007 & 92212 so ideally 45379 should be turned in the near future to balance things out.

I will be very glad to see the N back in BR black. I thought it was very wrong painting the only remaining member of the class in the red livery. It wasn't so bad with the U class as there are a few of them around.

It would be nice to see 31874 back in lined black , even if its only static , it was repainted back in black briefly for the end of southern steam gala and did look good when it was lined up with 31625 its a pity that the repairs needed to return her to steaming condition are very unlikily to be carried out until the future of this and other engines has been sorted out and new homes found , it would be good if she could remain on MHR metals, but i know this is very unlikily

Will certainly be nice to see this sole remaining "Woolie" in its BR lined black livery. I don't remember seeing it in Black though at the end of Southern Steam Gala? I only remember seeing it in red. Will they get some smoke deflectors on it I wonder?
