Amerton Railway Summer Gala

Amerton will be holding their Summer Steam Gala on the 16th/17th June. 6 locos will be on steam, residents Isabel, Jennie and Paddy along with visitors Peter Pan, Bronllwyd and newly restored Corpet - Minas De Allas No 2.

There will be both Passenger and Freight trains running an intensive service.

 

Corpet Minas de Aller No.2 at Amerton Railway Gala 16/17 June 2012

A quick reminder that it is the Amerton Gala this weekend. If you missed seeing the wonderful Corpet indirect drive pannier tank at the recent Statfold Open Day then why not come to the Amerton Railway Summer Steam Gala (ST18 0LA) this weekend (June 16/17th) where it will be in steam in a six engine line up to include Hudswell Clarke GP39 (prev. Bronllwyd), Kerr Stuart Peter Pan and the home fleet of Isabel, Jennie and Paddy. Passenger and goods trains will run on our mile long line from 11-00am, with a loco line up at the end of the day.

peteyg - can you confirm whether passenger trains will be running from 11am on Saturday as per the gata poster in your first posting or whether they do not start until 1pm as the website appears to suggest?

Also, can you confirm whether all six locos will be working passenger trains and whether rover tickets will be available?

I can help with this.

Firstly, passenger trains will be running from 11 am on both Saturday and Sunday. The Gala will be officially opened by Chris Hughes, of BBC's "Eggheads" at 1 pm on Saturday. Loco line up after 5pm both days.

We hope that all six locos will be working passenger trains on both Saturday and Sunday. As is the usual format for the Amerton Gala, they will intersperse their passenger duties with some freight haulage and time on shed. Loco line up at around 5pm both days

A day ticket will be available giving unlimited passenger train journeys on the day of purchase at £10 for adults and £5 for children.

A big "thank you" and "well done" to the team at Amerton for another excellent gala.

A good turn-out of visitors despite the rain on Saturday afternoon when I was there.

The usual relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, and very impressive to see six (half a dozen, or perhaps "half a Statfold" in narrow gauge speak!!!) in steam together.

If you've never been to Amerton then block the date for next year.
