I hear there may be problems at Blackpool.
Firstly there is a Rock concert taking place on the Prom and due to Elf & Safety trams are not being allowed past the venue. This means, according to my contact, that plans to run a couple of the old trams specifically for the railtour are likely to be shelved.
Secondly due to a badly damaged point on the approach to the station there is only one platform available. This means that there does not appear to be anywhere for the stock to be stabled, a diesel will have to used to haul the whole train back to maybe Preston, before the loco is detached for turning and servicing.

I wouldn't have thought that was a major problem as 6233 will have to go back to Preston for turning anyway.

According to my own contact (who may very well be the same source of information - or, at very least, obtained his facts from the same source), there was a third option that was of concern to him. 46233 is highly likely to be carrying that awful headboard that it wore during a previous visit to the resort. He also added that, in respect of the rock concert, although the man is doubtless unaware of the fact (and probably cares little anyway) Elton John is believed to be the cause of the non-appearance of the heritage trams.

But can only move if freed by movement of stovck to the sidings; if siding unaccessible then stock will have to go to nearest point (Preston) to release loco for turning UNLESS there is an arrangement to use the Preston Thunderbird to drag train back to Preston or train has diesel loco attached throughout from Crewe.

I understand that since the problem is NRs then they are having to supply or at least pay for the diesel, normally 46233 would be able to propel the stock out of the station into the siding herself.

I'm not one to complain about headboards, but that one provokes a response. :faint:

    Side on it is.

We often complain that taking video or stills of a particular loco on a particular day we only get one chance, well I see the times are now out and for those wanting a station shot of 46233, Preston is the place to be, she will be passing through 4 times during the course of the day.

Left Crewe on time but delayed at Winsford waiting for late running Pendo, through Acton Bridge in fine style about 10 down.

The times show the Duchess going as far as Derby on the return nothing mentioned about the return to Butterley.
