I think it's 3612's boiler that you mean, Patrick. Don't think Didcot would appreciate us dismantling their pannier!

And yes, as far as I know, that is the list of non SVR contracts.

Even if they don't own it I reckon they'll be pretty miffed if they find that we've robbed the boiler off it!

34053 was lit up this afternoon for an insurance inspection. Don't yet know what this will show (hopefully nothing...) but it is likely to dictate whether the loco stays in the yard, or goes back in the shed. Just now, it's clearly visible from the station footbridge, though photographic opportunities are rather limited by the remarkably liquid qualities of the "sunshine" SVR-Online Forum :: View topic - 34053 Sir Keith Park

Had a nose around Bridgnorth this afternoon. 34053 it would appear has failed it's exam, further leaks detected. Unfortunately it will be heading back into the shed, someone did mention boiler out - not sure how accurate this is. On plus side 1501 did look well advanced.

I am assuming that there is going to be diesel running all week this week.

I don't think there is, tomorrow yes.
Unless both the manor and 42968 are back for next weekend, we might be in trouble for the 40s weekends.

There is a risk by using the only two operation locos all week that one may fail and the 40s weekend could not be as planned far better to use the diesel all week and reduce the risk.

That may well be the case (and I wouldn't say no to it) but I haven't seen anything to suggest that is being done.
There were a few complaints today about the extra diesel, if it was done during the week when there is only one other steam engine in service, I can imagine this would be higher.

I think the complaints would be far worse should there be a need to use the 50s at the weekend all people talk about hire in you can not get anything with a weeks notice so there is no safety net.

True, and if a loco has been hired, it would have had to be already requested. Let's hope this is the case, cos we will find out in a few days time...

Shame; although it doesn't help the SVR's current motive power situation, these things need to be ironed out.

According to someone on facebook, a warming fire was lit in 34053 today. She has had some work done on her during the last week, it seems to be a case of wait and see at the moment.

34053 has a warming fire in her over night along with 7812. Both were seen too by the paid staff today and credit goes to them. The boiler doesnt have to come out of 34053 it was a leaking plug on a thermic syphon that was blowing. 7812 ran hot on the bogie in the week, this has been seen to over the weekend and had a spring replaced. Hopefully 34053 will pass its exam (touch wood/ fingers crossed) 3rd time lucky.

That sounds good news just hope 34053 is not rushed in to quickly just to fill a short term gap at the weekend to long has been spent working on it for that to take place.

Excellent news, full credit to staff if she passes this time. There were a few depressed faces on Saturday.

Yes, kudos to all involved. I'll keep everything crossed that all goes well with 34053 when she is next inspected by the insurers. There's no point in rushing, as it will only mean problems later.
