The Gazebo on National trust land offers a great vantage point http://www.32g.co.uk/pages/nnr.html

but can it be accessed for free? I knw there is a path from the coast road.
Wouldn't mind having a look next time

Sheringham Park is free to anyone unless you want to park in the carpark near Upper Sheringham, although that is free to National Trust members.
You can access the park from Weybourne station, the coastal path which crosses bridge 304 at dead mans hill, Upper Sheringham or via the main National Trust car park.

The Gazebo itself is roughly halfway between Weybourne and the main car park.

Anybody know if the Pannier tank L.99 is going to return to the NNR when it's repairs are complete? Or with the Class 5 staying, and the 4MT arriving next year, is it no longer needed?

Not sure how this will fit in with the apparent east anglian themed gala though? The current fleet consisting of the B12, J15 (if still operational), 9F, Black 5, 5619 (though i've read this may not run for the gala anyway), Wissington & Tornado. Plus i have seen it mentioned a few times about 44767 returning. I hope something more East anglian connected can visit as it is the 50th anniversary of the end of east anglian steam.

Also, any ideas what residents may run during the titfield weekend next week?

    Cheers,

The new Joint Line says that they are hoping to have 5619 back in steam next weekend for the Titfield event. 44767 will be at the Summer Gala and there are plans afoot to get the WD back into service.

Thanks for the reply, have to admit i'm a bit disappointed 5619 may run. I know 92203 is running this week but not sure if it's booked to run for the weekend, had wanted to see the J15 in its new livery or the B12 run. 56xx's certainly aren't in my top favourites and i seem to end up seeing them quite often!

Another black 5 still seems an odd choice to me for an East Anglian themed gala though.

Well that is where you are wrong because of the M&GN a lot of Black 5's were seen in Norfolk in the summer holidays for the summer traffic pulling trains to Gt Yarmouth and so on

I don't doubt this but i do admit when i think of east anglian steam, a black 5 isn't what i would think of instantly, i know they came down my way on summer services. All i said was it was an odd choice to have two of them over something perhaps from the LNER.

Another piece of news is that the J15 has been allowed to carry on until May 2013 so that is good that the B12 and J15 will have a longer spell together.

I like the 56xx tank. I like the variety of seeing eastern and western locos on the same line!

Great that the J15 is staying in service until May 2013, but I take it that will push the overhaul of the WD back, as I thought the overhaul of the WD would not be undertaken until after the J15's overhaul is complete?

The WD boiler is going to inspected to see what condition it is in then the work put out to tender so I assume most will be done off site. I'm not certain how much work can be done at Weybourne and whether the J15 would end up going off site to be overhauled also. New equipment keeps appearing at the sheds and it is their plan that one day all work will be carried out there and, hopefully, carrying out work for other railways. Perhaps another member of this group will have more information about that.
    Jonathan.

Yes I do it seams like that when wisington is finished the WD will be worked on, on the side of more equipment as 44767 is being based at NNR all of its equipment to overhaul it and so on will be coming with the Loco!
