ELR Diesel Gala 6-8 July 2012

Loco rosters are now added to the timetable for the up and coming mega weekend at Bury. Although one of the Deltics is off at Whitby on it's jollies during the event (55022), it looks like we have not just one visiting Deltic, NRM 55002, but also D9009. Friday sees them both in use along with Martin's other magic machine D9016 if the timetable is correct.
Class 24 5081 is listed, good to see a Sulzer type 2 back after some time.
Photing Friday and Sunday, riding Saturday, looking forward to another great event.

 

Sounds good do we know if deltics be running on both engines or not

I was thinking of going to this, but I'm in the need of saving my money for the SVR steam gala in September.

Pity we have lost Class40 D335 from the original line-up/roster, hopefully not at the expense of another Class37, four of them now! 47798 also no longer figures, but no great loss in view of the overall eclectic mix.

 

I went on the 8th had a good day the weather held a good event as always like that fact there is almost a full blue and ivory set in use which does look so much better with blue locos hope more railways move that way preservation history did not stop in 1968.

 

Even if it did, plenty of blue/grey stock around in 68!

After the wash out of a day on Friday what a super sunny day Saturday so chose the hike/phot option, and did the train riding Sunday instead. Shame about the failures of Cl47 1501 and Cl33 33109, but this did little to spoil an otherwise wonderful event. Cl24 5081 brought back many memories, looked great in it's ex-works blue livery. Thanks to all invoved in organising this excellent annual bash, look forward to the autumn gala and the Deltic weekend.
