I've just seen a shot taken of 6201 with the Royal train climbing away from Standish Junction towards Sapperton. Wish I had known, instead of relying on duff gen and standing on a bridge near Honeybourne for an hour!

Did it really go via Malvern ? It left Hereford at 11.00 wth a diesel pilot and was later seen heading south through Bescot at speed at round 12:30, still with the diesel pilot, so I suspect it went via Shrewsbury Abbey Foregate.

I was told it had gone via Cosford and Bescot. Attached (hopefully!) Sept11-July12 305.JPG is my shot of her at Norton Junction (just south of Worcester)

Great shots all, shame I was stuck shuttling between Stourbridge and Dorridge all day and couldn't get to see it,
I know the Royal Train is due into Birmingham Snow Hill at 10am tomorrow, no gen whether it's going to be steam hauled or not...

According to the new Railway Herald 'Princess Elizabeth was in charge for a final working from Worcester Shrub Hill' which seems to imply she won't be used tomorrow. Sorry.

Yes the station is just passed the bridge in the first shot, I guess a speed restriction was imposed on Lizzie due to the curve through the station and possible clearance issues. Made for some good sound though !

My Apologies guys, in the absence of gen between Worcester & Hereford I put 2 and 2 together, which in this case made 5!.

That's a dilemma for the morning, do I gamble on 6201 heading back to Brum with the Royal Train, or do I play it safe and go see the 31 with Mayflower ?, bit tight on time between locations for the two so has to be one or the other, perhaps I should put it out to a vote ? ;)

Just out of interest is the Royal Train air or vacuum, or is 6201 suitably dual braked?

...Badly phrased, but you know what I am getting at!

I believe the Royal Train is airbraked whilst 6201 had airbraking fitted at her last overhaul - the pump is visible in front of the cylinders on the left (I think)

Superb video. 6201 sounds a bit "off beat" though in the shot where she is pulling away from a stop. Sounds like a valve or timing problem perhaps...........

Correct, unless your Dual/Air braked, the Royal Train is off limits, steam haulage was never evisaged in a million years when the current Mk3's were set aside for it.

Also believe the 67 stays on the back purely for ETH purposes (light, heat, Aircon etc) even if the front loco doesn't need assistance, in terms of braking and power supplies, it's no different to a standard MK3.
