I thought this deserved a wider audience, excellent documentary about the Severn valley railway filmed in the late 1980s.

I also had the video and used to frequently watch it.

The video brings back fond memories of visiting the Severn Valley Railway during what I call its golden period (late 80's early 90's)

to my untrained eye, the first coach at the beginning of part 2 in the severn valley ltd train looks like an LMS observation car but in GWR livery?

Nope, that's one of the Hawksworth designed GW obbos, although I believe both on the Valley are actually BR build. At a guess it's 80969, as 80972 is a more recent arrival.

    thanks Jamie.
Ive always wanted to travel on the severn valley ltd because of this film. and always loved the severn valley because of its collections of carraiges even though Im no expert on them.

a small thing, the stanier portholes in the film carry LMS livery, I remembered it from watching the film so many times but it confused me when someone told me they never did and I was positive they did back in the day because of this film.
its just something that stuck in my head.

channel 4 showed a nice feature with musician Joe Brown firing 75069 on the severn valley and having bacon and egg on the shovel, it was on the going loco series in 1990 presented live from the Bluebell. when I get the software to upload vhs vids Ill have to put it on youtube.

I remember this well. From Channel 4's Going Loco season in the early 90's.

Is this now available on DVD, or still on VHS?
