Hope so, it'll be great to have 60009 back.

An ideal route for 60009's comeback if it makes it. I hope it does. Certainly it won,t be 70013 as that is working to Weymouth from Bristol.

People do not want to take a bus, taxi, or walk, to their destination! or to wait up to half an hour on a cold draughty platform for a connection. They want to be taken there in one seamless transaction - gun foot bang again!

The North Wales service is completely all stations now and utterly unappealing - This just one more nail in the coffin.

Conwy CBC need to get on to Network Rail and play bloody hell with them.

Well they won't if other people make the decision for them ! Such a lack of imagination and enterprise. Surely with a bit of effort some kind of partnership could be looked into with a nearby preserved vintage bus owner to run a shuttle into the town ?

I may be alone here but it just seems like the tour promoter hasn't made much effort here ?

What it needs is someone with an open topped double decker to take the risk, go to the Junction and run a shuttle into the town....

From past experience, I would expect that RTC will provide rail tickets for those passengers who have booked to Llandudno. The NWCE arrives at the Junction at 13.44 and there's a service train to Llandudno at 14.02. Coming back, there's a service train from Llandudno at 18.55 which arrives at the Junction at 19.05 - two minutes before the NWCE is due to arrive. Not exactly the major inconvenience that some people on here are suggesting.

I don't think anybody said it was a "major inconvenience". It's merely being suggested the situation be used to RTC's advantage by providing something different, and possibly more interesting than a service train connection. It works on preserved railways after all when there's a gap to fill.

Not everyone finds travelling on a means of transport other than a train such a hardship as some rail enthusiasts appear to do. In fact, after being on a train from Crewe to Llandudno Junction some may welcome the opportunity to go into the town on a bus. A vintage, or even open topped model would obviously be a bonus.

Left Manchester in warm and fairly sunny weather on time 10.39.

Video removed, slight problem, modified version being uploaded now.

Is the box there for operational reasons or reassurance because it's 60009 first passenger run since overhaul.

I would be inclined to think reassurance in this instance. I would expect it to be there tomorrow as well, so No. 9 should be barking well up through Settle with all the weight.

Gosh that slip made my hair stand on end and brought a lump to my throat ............it reminded me of the days I used to spend as a young lad at the now disappeared Leeds Central station when A4's used to heave trains such as the Queen of Scots up the steep climb....................super to have it back and sounding crisp.............and as for the chime whistle..say no more.............happy days..

Yes that slip was a bit abrupt but Albert was on the ball and had it under control very smartly. There was not much point in any rapid acceleration as they only had a yellow, although nothing had gone in front for at least 10 minutes.
    Frank however did move quickly......

Normal on ALL Holyhead jobs. Diesel does the shunting at Holyhead. Steam goes off to Valley to turn/service. Schedules probably show it too. We aren't down for anything on the back north of Preston on Monday not that I'm personally against it when there is as you know.

Must be a fairly new ruling then as in the past the only ones with a diesel have been those calling at Llandudno.

'Young' (over 65) Albert Seymour was at the regulator, he does have a bit of experience, not sure, but the may well be the oldest working main line driver.
