I'd rather not................................... it would only depress me even further.......... if they can get into a froth over 'nothing' then leave them to it...........(maybe they should go and work for a chain of coffee shops.........) and I doubt any off them would put their hands in their pockets to help pay for any of the works proposed.......................personally I feel sorry for the guys at the NRM - and its not their fault!

I despair sometimes... How on earth has this country been lumbered with the sort of people who write the sort of crap featured on that FB page? It may not look pretty, but its no worse than the condition some locomotives were in when in BR service.

I hope when the fit it with the Canadian whistle, that they connect it to an air pump so we can hear the sound of it as from the loco.

What drongos. 60010 looks very presentable indeed, much more authentic than some of the 'spit polished' exhibits in other places.

Could I ask for complete photgraphic surveys of both of these, after they arrive in the UK, before they are interfered with? Being exiled in Australia (exiled circa 1828), I'll find it a tad difficult to gain access to them myself. Such surveys, accompanied by detailed written condition reports, will be vary valuable as I think that these are the last reasonably authentic, ex-service LNER locomotives left on the planet. They should be standard museum practice too.

Personally, I'd also love the chance to be able to take a photo of 60010 before it gets cosmetically restored.

Before anyone starts throwing brickbats at the Canadians may I suggest they take a look at, for just one example, the state of Bodmin as stored out of service.

Before you start falsely accusing people of throwing brickbats, do understand that I meant exactly how the post was written; I would love a photo of 60010 in ex-BR condition, as it won't be seen in this guise again.

I can't believe there isn't the support for a weekend or two with the 8 & 10 on UK soil before anything else is done to them . Either at Shildon or York

    NRM Please

Theat's what I was trying to say, I mean a line-up of three BR green A4s would be a first in preservation. Not only that, but if you add 60009 to the mix then they would be consecutively numbered BR green A4s- another 'first' in preservation. I really think the NRM might be missing a trick there...

Have just read the posts on facebook. Its pretty bad, and I hope that there is a function for them to be taken down for the sale of both exporail and the UK enthusiast community.

Some familiar names on there as mentioned previously- You know who you are, put your handbags away and grow up- If you feel that strongly go and do some prep work 'On behalf of britain' on the loco's and make sure you pop back over every six months after just to keep on top of them, if not. Shut up, you only serve to make UK rail enthusiasts look foolish.

I think we are very lucky to have 4 a4s to muster over here, and having the 6 survivors together will be fantastic, I equally agree that being able to see the 2 ex-pats together (and even with no's 9 and 7) prior to cosmetic work would be great, however I am sure that the NRM have had to really work some magic to achieve what is already set out, so I am just keen to see the show when they are done.

Well done NRM, I will endeavour to make a visit if work allows at the time.

    Chris

Sorry, it was not you I was having a go at. I meant to start my response 'Indeed,' which would have read rather differently. Apologies once again, the brain sometimes fades as you get older!

Add my name to those whom want to see a line up before cosmetic restoration!
