lol, like all threads on here it's open to deviation and variation, two qualities quite common among us steam enthusiasts I find.

I want to go on this trip as I have a feeling it'll be very special. Living in Weston-super-Mare it's also easy to reach. I just don't know yet whether I'll be free so hoping it doesn't sell out so if I am free I can pay on the day.

I personally still think it's revelant Jane, so people can know which loco's are able to do what, and by extension, which are eligible for this tour or not, not everyone is as up on braking systems and the various regulations surrounding them and I feel the thread explains a few things which would have someone who doesn't know about these things scratching his head.

I will be going on this one, and can't wait.
71000 still not at Bristol yet, apparantly they couldn't find a suitable date for the LE move before the Torbay, so 70000 is doing this one too...

Not bad, that compares with provisional times advertised in PTs brochure as follows :-

    Eastleigh

    Dep 06:05
    Arr 23:45

    BTM

    Dep 09:10
    Arr 20:30

Not too far out at all, and with earlier than advertised return times. Well done to all concerned I'd say !

    Looks like some great timings!
On Bristol to Plymouth, it gives 3hrs 35 mins, and only 3hrs 25 mins on the return from Plymouth to Bristol.
Can't wait, do you think any records will be broken?

Bit of a shame that as I'd have liked to see 71000 take charge of a train and run without incident before the 28th. I've got every faith mind.

Re assuring to know the pipework is present, even if the co-operation between DBS and WCRC necessary to make a double header with 70013 and 71000 possible probably isn't.

Tickets arrived today, still with 70000 and 71000 booked, and the new (confirmed) timings posted on the pathfinder website.

Not sure, that could've been just the Dawlish up platform though, not the Warren...

They could hold it on the through lines and let whatever it is pass through the platform road.

    Happens regularly at Leamington.

One crucial difference is all passenger working are booked to stop at Leamington Spa so would use the platform anyway, anything not booked to stop at Dawlish Warren would have to slow for the points onto the platform road and lose time as a result.

That's really good news but I've decided on a "pay on the day" approach to this tour.

I want to see 70000 and 71000 in steam and at the head of the train at BRI before I part with any money.

Why is 60019 travelling to Bristol by the way ?

According to UkSteam, 70000 has a broken spring and 60019 is taking over.

Shame on the fact that 70000 isn't able to run, I was really looking forward to the double standard combination, but Bittern is certainly a worthy and interesting substitute.

Barton Hill is filling up nicely with steam locomotives at the minute with both Brits, 71000 and 4464 either present or arriving within the next few days. The busiest it has been (steam wise) in years... I think!
