Does anyone know the current location of RSG ? Or what relations are like between the DPS and Beaver Sports? I've had a look on the website but there are no updates since 10th July - is she possibly still at Grosmont?

Definately still at grosmont, think she has had some work done to a water leak on a p/u, fit and ready to run from what i gather, if not a little workworn!!!

If test run is on tuesday, and they find fault, think at that stage its a bit unfair to ask Martin Walker to make arrangements to get to Kings X with RSG.

If their is any doubt at all, RSG should be sent down south, last thing needed is 9009 to sit down, and a substitute to be found.

To save the light engine movement i'd take RSG coming on at York...to be pulled by a Deltic from halfway is better than not at all...Everything crossed that Alycidon gains the required Mainline acceptance certificate.

The Mighty Machine (55022) would be worth a phone call to Martin Walker. Yon thing is fit and ready for anything. :thumb:

There's a change for pax joining/leaving at Darlington. It seems that pathing problems now mean that Darlo pax now travel to Durham by the 1031 service train, thence 1113 departure from Durham on the tour proper. Return is 1858 arrival at Durham, leaving the tour there, with the service train arriving at Darlo 1924.

Presumably this now means a blast past Darlington, both ways, on the main. Good for the linesiders...

It's a shame for those affected; hope it doesn't spoil the day too much.

Of course, we now have the prospect of Tornado having to tackle the southbound climb out of Durham from a standing start. What a pity that the Cathedral tower will be closed at that time - what a spectacle that start should be from THAT vantage point.

Very late back in London but looks like it'll be a fast(ish) path from Grantham. Not so good for onward connections though presumably ?

The letter received with the tickets shows there's no P'boro stop southbound, again for pathing reasons. Alternative arrangements for P'boro pax, either service train from Doncaster, or road coach from Huntingdon, are in place too.

Guessing enthusiasts will go for the coach from Huntingdon to maximise steam mileage.

Yes, it can't be that often steam is routed via the Darlington avoiders I suspect ? As for Durham standing start, good thing it's likely to be nice dry rail. Wouldn't want to see a slip there !

    Er, no... quite...

What we need is the new-build G5 to re-enact the banking that used to be done there - any takers, once the G5 is finished? I understand that the intention is that she'll be main line compliant.

Getting back OT, fingers crossed for Deltic 9 to be fit for the journey

I know Tornado will need to stop for coal at some point in the journey, am I right in thinking that the stop in Tyne Yard will be for Coal and Water?

Probably the only place without overhead so quite likely. This should be a good do,just hope it keeps time on the return. It is rather tight in places.

Presumably you could catch a train to York and board there - your seat will surely be avaialable. It would cost a few quid but lots more Deltic and Tornado!

I am green with envy as we had planned to be away on the date of this tour. Holiday now cancelled but no seats left aarrgh!
