There are still seats left on all weeks of the 2012 Moorlander trains (in all classes) currently if anybody is at a loose end over the summer and fancies a "friendly" steam ride over the S&C and Shap. Whilst advance bookings are preferable we do take pay on the days, with the caveat of seating subject to on the day availability, although all Premier Dining on these trains should be pre-booked via the office. See www.compasstoursbyrail.co.uk

The current schedule is for a locomotive off Carnforth each week but specific traction may vary.

Mondays only 23rd July to 20th August
SUMMARY OF SCHEDULED TIMES BELOW (subject to all the usual caveats):
    Crewe 0606/2150
    Runcorn 0634/2116
    Liverpool South Parkway 0647/2102
    Liverpool Lime Street 0719/2037
    Prescot 0743/2012
    St Helens Central 0752/2004
    Wigan NW 0813/1946
    Euxton 0828/1923
    Preston 0912/1839
    Steam hauled Preston-Carlisle-Preston
Out via S&C (water stops Hellifield Goods & Appleby) + return Shap (water stop Carnforth Goods)
    Carlisle 1314-1611

I have been told that the loco for the first Moorlander, Monday 23rd is now to be 46233, unless of course events decree otherwise.
I also understand that there is still space in both classes for pay on the day, unless there is a sudden surge of late bookings.
Times as per the post above.

It would seem that events have decreed, plans changed, etc etc. and now it's confirmed that unless there are any problems on Sunday, 60009 will haul the Moorlander on Monday 23rd.

60009 went charging up Houghton Bank out of Lostock only about 5 mins down, righthand side draincock stuck open, lots of chiming, sounded great! No paraffin can on the back.
