The thought does occur that Barton Hill can resemble a steam shed on a weekday when everything else that's usually on there is out running during the day.

Yes indeed, Pete Waterman must love having so many steam locos at once at his Bristol site.

Unless it has moved, 70013 is based at St Philips Marsh for WCRC. <BJ>

Do FGW rent space to WCRC then as SPM is their operating base isn't it ? Or is it owned and controlled by a TP ?

Pete Waterman's Bristol site? Where on earth do you get that idea from?

    [off topic]
Free2grice, your postcount seems tobe the same as the number of a certain N2...
Anyway back on topic: who thinks that the new combo of 4464 and 71000 is better than the previously planned 70000 and 71000?
I for one am a little disappointed that we dont get to see the dream combination.
Also, which engine will they put at the front?

I think "different" rather than "better" would best describe it.

Id put 4464 at the front myself as the streamlined smoke box was designed to be at the front of trains rather than behind the tenders of other locos. Maybe they'll take it in turns like they did with 60163 and 6024, a tour also called "The Tamar Devonian" if I remember rightly ?

Yep, I think it was, it will be good if they could manage to take turns, and yes, 4464 will look better on the front.

It'll certainly be an interesting colour combination if "interesting" is the right word !

Yes, almost as odd as some liveries you now find on the ML, such as NR yellow, the rainbow GBRF one, and the freightliner livery on the 70s.

70000 appeared to be in steam (or at least fire lit) this morning as I passed Barton Hill which is what led me to looking for what she was lined up for as I figured Thursday was a bit early for a weekend run. As pure mindless speculation - any chance they've fixed it and she's up for a test run? Can't think why else she'd be lit up today if they have no plans to run her in the near future.

I suppose the giveaway will be whether 60019 moves to Bristol tomorrow or not. If 70000 has been fixed by tomorrow, would there still be any interest in moving number 19 ?

Probably yes, as it may be needed for the TEs, and as a last minute backup incase one of the two fails just before the tour!
