Fabulous photos and videos. Am I the only one that prefers A4s in green ??? !! Perhaps because thats how they were when used to see them through Hitchen in the early 60s

Hi Guys,i've only just noticed the Spring Bok square plate halfway down the boiler of the A4 is missing on the southbound run of Mersey Moorlander, when i photographed the A4 on the test run heading north towards carnforth other day,the plate was on,i'm thinking that the Spring Bok plate must be only on one side of the locomotive

test run shot, just notice the plate

    Thanks John.

Par for course, sunshine about 5 minutes before she arrived, but the cloud got there first!
    Still quite bright though.

I thought about going to Woodacre but changed my mind at the last minute and ended up trudging
ankle deep in mud across the field at Brock ------ curses!

Yes, Tony was lucky with the sun, great shot! As my old granny used to say, "If some folk fell off Co-op
    roof thid land int' divi"!!

As has already been mentioned the Springbok emblem is fitted to the Right hand side cladding only.

Drivers side... Anyway it was a fine performance yesterday, she looked great as we arrived at Preston with many of the passengers really taken by her appearance. Once underway she was not pushed, no point really as it was not a tight schedule. The various climbs were accomplished with ease with the long drag a steady one with no heroics. The run down to Carlisle was also taken easily as there was little point in arriving at Carlisle and having to wait for our plarform.
The return was also started steadily but Penrith was passed in fine style. After the Carnforth water stop things seemed to change and a maximum of 75! was reached near Bay Horse, and Lancaster was taken briskly.
She is a credit to Mr Cameron and his team, long may she continue to provide such pleasure.

Sorry, what I meant to say was RHS as you look at the loco. head on as you would if you were photographing the loco coming towards you, you are correct, it would have been much better to say Drivers side. I will just administer a slap to my wrist!

Totally agree with your remarks regarding Mr. Cameron and crew, it was flying when it passed my position just south of Penrith on the curve

Nothing concrete confirmed. If there are any air braked only coaches in the set again then it will have to be off Crewe. There were 2 last week.

Either way we are still absolutely fine if anybody requires a pay on the day ride in standard or first class, and haven't run out on any other week at this time.

Looks most likely that 60009 will again be doing the honours on Monday 30th as 46233 is doing the Flyer and the CME. I understand there is still an air braked coach amongst the stock meaning that 5305 cannot work the train.
I am told that there is space available for POTD.

There have been rumours that the Moorlander for the 6th August has been cancelled, this is untrue, it is running as scheduled.

Passed Hoghton about 10 mins late or so, 45305 in charge looking very smart indeed, a fantastic credit to the owners. The best presented member of the class?

Appeared to be running to time between Carlisle and Penrith - bit of a slog for a class 5 with 12 on. Freightliner p-way train was crawling along a couple of sections behind.

Was bright when I caught her chattering along at Woodacre crossing a short time later. I traded my old camera in for a Canon EOS 7D this morning, so this is its first steam locomotive!
