Good to meet both Britfoamer and 981smithy at Hoghton. Great performance as usual from the eight and its crew. Usual high quality footage as well.

Excellent vids chaps. :) I see from some of the shots the smokebox door has suffered a bit from burning; the first crew, northbound, seemed to be 'going for it' and maybe there was a bit too much 'carry-over'? Or, could be just build up from the three runs so far; paint burnt a bit thin over the time? Quality machine though all the same. :)

    Alan. ;-)

It has been mentioned that now 5305 is at Carnforth, she may be down for a few runs on the Fellsman.

Lineside rumour-mill today has 61994 favourite for this week 1st August's trip. Unlikely to be 48151 if she goes to North Wales as planned on Tuesday. Not 44932 if LE's thread is correct and she went to York today (Monday).

Now that would make a nice change. Has 61994 ever traversed the S&C before? It must be some years ago if it has. 45305 must be in the frame too though?

Think LNER 3442 made a run in each direction circa 1989 and may have also done in the sixties in early preservation.

3442 made a number of appearances on the S&C during 1989 and 1990 - made quite a reputation for herself pulling CME stock, in addition, sometimes, to a dreaded 'ethel'. Don't recall it on the S&C during the 60s though.

8F would be most logical having run today assuming no defects arising. Would guess K4 is least likely now 45305 is available as well. K4 was due a test run a couple of weeks ago I understood but nothing materialised.

No test run was ever booked being no need for one.
