Made my visit and had an excellent day. Although 42085 was missed, the services being provided by "Princess", the railway was running very well with lots of friendly staff, couldn't ask for more really.

My secret hope that a minor failure would result in the Class 20/27 handling services didn't come to pass, but they were easily viewable in the engine shed which you can walk around with no restrictions - so I still had to explain to my bemused friends why I like diesel engines!!

Went this afternoon to catch the 1510 service. Princess was in the siding between the platform and the shed, in light steam. Apparently it had failed after 2 trips (nothing serious, but will take a couple of days to fix), so M59137s wish had come true, and D5370 was working for the rest of the day, which was a nice bonus, and quite spritely! 42085 will be running tomorrow (Monday), and was gently raising steam when I left, so guess where I'm going tomorrow :) (once I can get away from a family gathering in Grange over Sands). Did get a reply to my email on Saturday, and agree with previous poster, staff seemed friendlier than my 2007 visit.

Can anybody help me identify this Mk1 coach? (see image). I am 90% sure it is either 3881 or 4255, but which?

It is a TSO and looks to be the most recently overhauled, judging by the quality of the paintwork and roof. It was in traffic on 3rd August.

Does anybody know if 3881 or 4255 has been repainted recently?

It was missing steam pipes and a cab when I visited in August, but that's just an observation...

I was there yesterday for the first time and was very disappointed with Lakeside Station. It's devoid of virtually everything except its signal-box (which seemed to be non-operational). My score 2 out of 10

Fairburn 42073 was in steam Friday 12 and Saturday 13 September 2014 for the first time following her overhaul. Repulse replaced her on Sunday as one or two jobs needed sorting on the loco. Great to see her back in steam

Is there any way of knowing when 42073 will be working again from Haverthwaite ?

I know there's the phone, but if the info's available the day before it would give me time to travel up..

I actually found out 42073 was running from twitter. Their address is @lakesiderailway Such is the interest in the Fairburn they seem to tweet when it is running.
