Sadly I never got out into the Conwy Valley to get the photo I wanted this afternoon, however, managed to grab this shot at Rhyl Marine on her return to Preston. Only wish I could have had a higher vantage point!

And an excellent compilation to watch - especially the Roman Bridge sequence which you were right to retain. A fitting end to a fitting charter operation for 2012.

Great coverage, it's just a pity that there is nowhere to get a decent shot from on the other side of the Weaver arches, with the evening sun it would surely make a wonderful shot.

Thanks Fred and Ralph for your kind comments, I think it may be possible to walk along the river bank at the viaduct, on this occasion though I was after the silhouette.

I agree Austin you can get to the other side but the shot is only a very short one and then you get to the motorway.

I've seen a photo from the other side of the River Weaver viaduct, but not from the main, brick viaduct. Nice video by the way Austin, you can only see my sunburnt head in one shot!

It was a good trip yesterday, apart from leaving home at 4am and getting back at 1am! The loco seems perfect for the line. No fuss, no drama. A few slips, mostly very minor and rapidly checked, and only one largish one, just before one of the tunnels. But it was wet, on 1 in 47 and on a curve, so not too surprising really. Maximum speed all day seemed to be low 50s, but as the tour is timed for the 8F there's no point in rushing around at 60 only to wait time. Time keeping was good throughout, only one minute late back into Preston in the evening.

Some lovely shots there guys. It is really nice to see Marquess being able to stretch it's legs more this summer. Having grown up with it on the SVR we all knew of it's capabilities, but outside of there it seemed to have a bit of a mixed reputation being temperamental in the hands of those who were not used to it! As we have seen this summer it is very able to punch above it's comparitively small size and it doesn't half look the part it the more southern mountains of Snowdonia doesn't it?! Let's hope it can continue to to perform to new audiences and contribute to the mainline scene a bit more.

Thanks, that's a nice shot, I've driven along a track on the other side of the river but not there, where did you access that location?

Thanks very much, that was at Guilden Sutton I suspect. Hope you won't be after an appearance fee!
