Yup, shame but FGW are running HSTs to Weymouth from Bristol on certain services during the Olympics if that's any use ?

No offence but I'd rather walk. :)

Ha ha, know what you mean but you can do a lot worse than an HST on today's railway as I'm sure you're aware !

As Tangmere hauled the Dorset Coast Express to Weymouth yesterday, I presume that the loco is a contender for the Weymouth Seaside Express on Sunday, 19th August.
Has anyone noticed that Princess Elizabeth is running engine and coach to Southall tomorrow. It would be rather nice to see her running in the south or west of the country once again. <BJ>

Is 6201's move to Southall still on? She's been replaced by 35028 on Monday's Cathedrals Express to Cardiff.

Just received ticket for 26th August and it says 70000 Britannia will be hauling us. No stops at Trowbridge or Keynsham on the return journey but provision has been made for those people to take other trains back to their points of origin.

What a bit of luck! After seeing 4464 depart Taunton ( 4464 - The Torbay Express 19-08-12 - YouTube ), I waited for the next HST to go to Westbury and see 34067 on the Weymouth Seaside Express. The HST, however, was 10 minutes late and I feared I had missed 34067.

However, as I looked out of the window in the direciton of Frome, I could see 34067 sat waiting for my HST to pass. I jumped off the train at Westbury, threw the tripod legs down and hit record as 34067 rolled in.

After all that, 34067 gave a spirited departure as she headed for Bristol once again. The link to my video is here: 34067 - The Weymouth Seaside Express 19-08-12 - YouTube

This isn't my best work - I was running to get into position in time and 34067 nearly caught me out when she left. I still welcome comments, please let me know what you thought of it!

I imagine it will be hauled by 34067 as 70000 is still at Didcot - it will be operating DRC services tomorrow.

I believe Bittern is out of gauge for this route at Dundas aqueduct. Tangmere is the rostered loco.

Damn! Would have booked this had I known in advance. Oh well, can't win them all, will have to feel solace in the Vulcan at my local air display this afternoon.
