We were informed by the train manager that there was no lubrication getting to the axle hence the hotbox.

26D_M, may I suggest you read Victor's post (No. 33) again?

The line reads ......The Riley team are good, no question, but other loco engineering staff are far from being incompetent numpties.

Quite. The point being nobody on here was suggesting wcr have incompetent numpties so why was the phrase used as if it had been implied. Nothing could be further from the truth and it seems inflammatory language. The only point raised was that Riley's have a better record than wcr in terms of failures per usage. The only implication is that Riley's is clearly doing everything right and have a record that it seems natural others would aspire to.

I have riddin behind a 1926 Baldwin 4-8-2. The Frisco 1522 definitaly had her ups and downs. 3 years of flawless running followed by a 1 or 2 years absence for repairs to be completed. etc. Is that what we are seeing with the Scot right now?

It was me who used the term incompetent numpties:..............." The Riley team are good, no question, but other loco engineering staff are far from being incompetent numpties."

I didn't say or suggest and one particular group of people.

Whilst all your minds are busy boggling please accept apologies for misidentifying the source of of the quote. We all seem to agree that wcr are "far from incompetent numpties". The initial response to that, if you haven't lost the will to live by now, was to show the phrase in defence was unnecessary because no such accusation was made. Only point being they need to make 46115 more reliable using Riley's as the yardstick.
Obviously better to banter about semantics than facts.

Who says it was unnecessary? I used it because I felt like using itat that time in that circumstance, it was my opinion, I didn't show disrespect to anybody, I think most people understood what I meant. If it doesn't meet with your approval, well that's unfortunate.
I won't persue this any further, I've said what i want to say in a polite manner.:hand: I'm off to the pub now.

Fair comment you are entitled to your opinion though you said mine was "ball cocks" for suggesting wcr might want to aspire to Riley standards then promptly implied I thought others were incompetent numpties by pointing out how far away others are from this. All in all my first opinion ventured on here will be my last to avoid being mis interpreted and insulted - I can get that anywhere!
