That's a shame. Do you means that the trip is cancelled completely or running on a different date and/or in a different form? Any idea why?

No big surprise. It didn't run as advertised in 2009, 2010 or 2011.

May be you are correct. There does seem to be a degree of inconsistency so far as the running of the Dorset Coast Express is concerned. If the trips of 21 & 28 August were cancelled because only one locomotive was available and steam could only be provided in one direction how come this week it is once again acceptable to run diesel hauled on the return from Weymouth to Southampton with steam for the rest of the journey.

I have just been informed by a usually reliable source, who works for NR, that all steam hauled DBS charters have been cancelled for the rest of this month.

I hope this ain't true but if it's a reliable source what a shame that's a good chunk of cancelled charters .

Feel sorry for Sd, trying to raise the bar in terms of standards, and this happens.

Allied to this A1ST use DBS almost exclusively with DBS, they will be out of pocket as well.

To slightly re-phrase this, it's not so much A1ST "use exclusively", it's WCRC "won't use".

Did today's Salisbury-Ely run? Also Thursday's Norwich-Salisbury is still showing as running. If the above is true, it means the the Torbay's have finished as well.

THe Salisbury-Ely is today and is running. Tornado is supposed to be leaving the NNR tomorrow for Crown Point in prep for thursday to salisbury. I assume the move from the NNR to Norwich is a DB job too.

Looking at your posts, you seem to know a lot about this. Do you know something we don't?

Got my dates wrong, now corrected. If this is the case, not being funny, but it looks like Ralph's info is wrong.

This would tie in with something I heard earlier about this Thursday's Norwich-Salisbury job being caped due to lack of crew. The timings are still in so it may just be a rumour or alternative crews being looked into.

It seems that my contact missed out a an important word, he should have said all weekend steam workings cancelled but this may extend beyond this month.

Justy had a text from a friend who is going on the Norwich-Salisbury and he rang SD. He says it is indeed cancelled

Surely it is SD's job to contact intending passengers, not the other way round!

Within your reply is a slight contradiction with WCRC current reliability, something the A1ST dont suffer from "touches wood".

And what makes you think they are not doing this?
