    Tangmere chattered merrily down Parkstone Bank this lunch time with the down trip on time and back up this evening with 47245 leading to Southampton for Tangers to lead return via Andover - 1724 top of Parkstone bank Dick

    My video link is below from last night's run. 34067 put in a good performance accelerating away from Redbridge, but was checked around/after Andover.

    I caught the DCE at Winchester, Totton (47245 leading), Test Lane and Andover. Andover wasn't the greatest shot, the signal changed to green just as 34067 appeared, and so only passed through at about 60mph. A bit of a shame, but at least the clag wasn't bad!

    Sounds like a massive wheel flat on the box at Andover.

    Indeed it is! That happened between Test Lane and Andover I think, as the box wasn't making a sound at Test Lane.

    It or last coach seemed to have a flat going down to Weymouth when it went past Parkstone on way down but at same spot coming back up the bank did not notice it then! Whether the full power drowned the noise of the flat I don't know! Dick

    The sound generated by a wheel flat can vary appreciably depending on curvature of the track. It depends on how where along the wheel cone the flat is situated (ie how far it is from the flange).
