Tangmere was really motoring at Crofton this morning. Well done to the train and support crews.

We were lucky to get the narrow boats in the shot. All three boats were about to depart when I arrived at 08:20 but I asked the owners if they would stay so that we could include them in the shot. They were happy to do so and even photographed Tangmere passing their boats. I was the guy stood on the step ladder to the rear of the second boat. I was a bit peeved to hear an HST approaching on the up line but in the end it didn't spoil the video in any way. What a ideal way to start the day!! <BJ>

Tangmere at Beech Grove Lock a few seconds before the Crofton shot (like the letter box format on that by the way - it was a good exhaust and she sounded great). I missed the HST crossing and got a good shot of that going away with Tangmere's exhaust doubling as mist.

Well done to all involved in organising the train - look forward to seeing the shots of the pair in Devon

Firstly apologies for the cryptic message above, it was meant to start "I am at Theale now" I was using a mobile phone & couldn't get the forum to work correctly & try to edit it, kept telling me I didn't use enough characters minimum of 5.

Now the story, I arrived at Theale just after 8pm & the first thing I noticed there was no water tanker present, a bad sign. One or two other people turned up & I managed to keep checking this thread for updates, but nothing. I also subscribed to the tour on Railtours Live but the last update was at teatime from Dawlish. I sent out a plea for info on RTL by text, but no response. At about 9.15 the last person waiting decided to give up & go home. I was about to do the same thing shortly after & actually sat in my car when I heard the announcement "The next train at platform 1 does not stop here" etc, so I got out & waited. Sure enough 70000 came through at 9:19 pm, a close thing! I sent a text via RTL stating this.
Now the whinge! Surely in this day & age people are capable of communicating either by the forum or RTL. This is 2012, way past the 2 baked bean tins & a piece of string means of communication!
Final word, I am no longer going to post any train info, by any means, in the future of anything I see. If other people can't be bothered, especially when plans change, then why should I?

I'll always update the website if I receive any gen. My usual sources are from the good folk of Wiltshire Avon Gen and South West Rail Gen. Tonight the updates were very sparce, the last being Cowley Bridge from SWRG but not one message from Wiltshire Avon Gen, which is quite unusual. We can only do our best. <BJ>

A short sequence of Tangers through Iver yesterday morning just before 07:30am - the low sun certainly made for a challenge!

Steam Railway Photography in the UK | 34067 Tangmere - The Mayflower 15.09.12.

Though, if I'd gone one station further down to Langley, I don't think I would have got much, as a, the places to photograph are extremely limited, and b, the sun would have been almost directly in the lens, a mate did go to Langley as it offers much more opportunities for video, this is his effort.
