I notice 3650 has now appeared on the list of loco directions, is she now running for the event?

If so, any ideas what she may do?

3650 is possibly going to be swapped with 4566 at some point during the weekend. But other than that its a spare loco.

I'm planning to ride overnight for the first time. Where is the best place to park the car for 24 hours?

I'd recommend etheir Bridgnorth or Kiddie - car has always been safe there.

Also the WTT produced by the SVR is very excessive in my opinion. I mean what percentage of the people who buy it actually want to know the crew rosters? I suppose the difficulty is finding the time to produce separate staff and public WTTs, and the costs of printing two different booklets.

From memory they have always been worth the money though. In no way am i branding anyone here but there are always going to be some people who don't ride the trains nor go to the stations to spend money for the railway. The railway will gain nothing money wise from these people however a percentage of them will want to know what service is coming next. With that in mind, £5 for the WTT is quite reasonable.

Apparently the plan is now for 3650 to replace 4566 at the gala.

    From the SVR forum:

'3650 will replace 4566 at the Autumn Steam Gala

Both service engines have visited turntable today prior to gala:
    7812 now south-facing
    42968 north-facing'

I'd say Pete's comment is quite fair. Even I only get my turn details, if I want a full WTT I need to pay, and I'm firing that weekend!

Steve we go through this every year, somone always asks for a free copy of the WTT as they feel they shouldn't have to pay. National Preservation is not going to promote links or entertain requests for free copies, kind of goes against what we are about we want to support preservation not rob it of potential income. The fact is that the WTT costs £5.00, the money of which goes to the upkeep of the railway.
It is not a case of Big Brother watching, more a case of (a) National preservation does not want to condone depriving any railway of potential income (which I would of thought on a personal level would of been every enthusiasts sentiment) and (b) It would also be unfair on those who have paid for the WTT if a free version was made available. Same would apply to any other railway of if somone started offering knock off copies of a railway DVD for example.

    Two quick questions:

Firstly, does anyone know when/whether the Paddock Railway will be running?

Secondly, how long does it take to walk from Arley station to Victoria Bridge?

    Thanks

Shame about the plus 1 connection at Kidderminster both nights 22.49 - 22.50 at a station where they can easily let one train go before the other has stopped. Next departure 00.50. Cheers. Can't really see why they've done this when the same train has 10 minutes relaxation time at Arley, 8 minutes at Hampton and 28 minutes to run round at Bridgnorth. I was planning to stay out both nights and therefore buy a three day rover, but as I can't be sure the connection will make, on the Friday night I will endure 28 minutes in the cold at Bewdley and on Saturday night I will go home off the 22.49 arrival having bought a two day rover.

If the Valley were to publicly state that this connection will be held come what may then I will still buy the three day rover, but can't really see this happening.

Victoria Bridge is about 10 - 15 minutes walk from Arley, there are footpaths on both sides of the river.

Regarding Victoria Bridge: come out of the station and turn left. Walk down the hill, past the Harbour Inn and there's a car park on your right. Walk through the car park and there's a stile infront of you. Cross over it and then walk down the bank of the river - you should see the bridge as soon as you're over the stile.

As Jonno said, it's about 10-15 minutes. It's been pretty dry in Worcestershire/Shropshire over the week so the ground should be quite firm.

If you're that worried about missing the connection you could just get off at Bewdley and wait for it there?
