    Now got my video up. 34067 - Royal Duchy - Bristol to Par and Return - 16 Sep 2012 - YouTube
    Have included the less than brilliant clips in the dark at Burlescombe and Yatton to give the true flavour of an epic all day grice. With 10 separate viewings of the two trains running close to time on Brunel's road yesterday it was a day to savour - steam on top form. Bittern clips here Torbay Express with 60019 Bittern. 16 Sep 2012 - YouTube.
    Many thanks to all the crews, support staff, ops guys and paying passengers who made it possible.

    Indeed. Weather forecast looks a bit grim at the moment. Had wanted to go on this but 'er indoors has other plans unfortunately.

    34067 Tangmere away from Bristol TM on time at 08:48 with the final Royal Duchy of the season.
    9 coaches as usual, a mixture of maroon and green stock. <BJ>

    Thankfully the train returned to Bristol before the flooding began. Matt Ryder reported:

    ''Line closed Bristol Temple Meads - Nailsea & Backwall. Flooding in Flax Bourton Tunnel with water over the rail heads. Three trains trapped. Water is also high at Uphill Junction causing a track circuit failure. First buses accepting railway tickets between Taunton and Bristol. Reduced service between Tiverton Parkway and Taunton due to earlier flooding at Whiteball Tunnel which again was above the rail head.

    A report yesterday mentioned a Voyager at Starcross:
    ''10:50 PGN to BTM struck by a wave on Seawall, came to a stand at Starcross. On the move 22 late''. <BJ>

    Hello All,

    I have got round to updating my Rail Traction Photo website with a small collection of photographs of 34067 hauling "The Royal Duchy" down past the Teign Estuary on Sunday 16th.September 2012. Please note, as already stated, this was the running from eight days ago, not yesterdays. Sport too good on TV for me to venture out yesterday.

    The link to view if you wish to is here;

    Best regards SteamHawk216.

    I thought they fixed the problem of Voyagers throwing a hissyfit the moment a hint of saltwater gets anywhere near them ?, yet the 40 year old trains FGW use go ploughing through the waves regardless, progress ??.

    When there are storms in Lyme Bay and the NR sea wall risk assessment goes red at Teignmouth they could always just reverse the Plymouth trains at Exeter and go via Okehampton..........oh hang on.....just had a thought!

    The SR route was always the best, sheer bloody mindedness to get rid of it. Its fate was more or less sealed once it was transferred from BR(S) to BR(W) control.

    Absolutely. Ditto for the line west of Salisbury as well. Pretty engines but pretty awful decisions by BR(W) in the late sixties.

    GC being a similar example once BR(M) got their hands on it.
