Over the weekend 5th to 7th of October the Ffestiniog Railway will be hosting a tribute event to Alan Pegler who as we all know passed away earlier this year. This is going to be a toys out of the box weekend presenting the opportunity to see lots of the bits of the railway it is rarely possible to see on a normal operating day, such as the Hunslet ladies in action, possibly one of the last few opportunities to witness the skill of an oil fireman and a rare public opening of Boston Lodge Works. One of the highlights will surely be the operation of the longest gravity train so far in preservation which all being well will surpass previous events by a fair length, see the attached photo of some of the new waggons that will be launched in to service. Public timetables and further details are available on the railway's website HERE.

    Hope to see you there.

Working timetables, train graphs and stock allocations are available from Harbour from Saturday at a cost of £2.

Does anyone know whether they are available by e-mail if you pay by bank transfer? I'm going up on Saturday 6th and can't get to Portmadoc beforehand which leaves my plans in limbo.

    Not at present...

Phone the Booking Office - 01766 516024 - and if you ask nicely  they should be able to post you a copy, if you pay for the stamp... well, franking machine label actually, but you get my drift!

Thanks Roger, I'll see if they'll do that. I'm away from Tuesday though so might be a close call.

As a taste of what's to come. Barrels of special Purple Moose Ale were transported from the brewery to Spooner's today the old fashioned way.

I visited Portmadog on Saturday, and was really impressed with how well organised the event was; first time to have visited Boston Lodge, and the sun was out for most of the day.

I've added some photos to here:
