With the help of a newly purchased brush cutter we cut the top back before the Gala . And also hence the recent appeal for strimmers as the MHRs ones have given up the ghost.

Still kicking myself for not trying to ,ove work around when I saw the weather! I knew I'd be spending a few hours that evening photting, so passed up the late afternoon, and it wasn't that sunny in Alresford! The moonlight shot exif was iso 20000 (yes twenty thousand) 1/100th f1.6 using a Sigma 30mm (1.5 crop factor on the K of course)

As this is the weekend for Galas and others have just gone its good to note that 3 Mid Hants locos are away from the line attending other railways events 31806 at the SVR 45379 at the West Somerset (and Shackerstone) and 925 Cheltenham at the Great Central .

All credit must go to Ropley for being able to turn out three locos and lets not forget crew/support teams to help with the locos.

And still run a two train steam service over the Alps. Well done boys....

    Thanks Dave,

Ashame 925 won't be facing out of Alresford. It's also ashame there isn't more photo opportunities in the Alton area. You only have one or two places for taking photos on Medstead bank (Brick Kiln lane & Chawton woods).

There used to be around 6 or 7 shots but they have been lost due to bushes and trees and with out the use of the flail or 20 sturdy well armed me they wont be back !

45379 now in cattle dock at Alresford and as of 22:00 the tender was being unloaded from the lorry, and the loco is facing London. Some new photo opportunities there!

About time too on both counts - both have now been in traffic for quite a while.

It'll be nice to get shots of them facing the 'other way' for a long over due change - will certainly be nice to see the 5 storming the bank the right way round. :D

31806 and tender arrived today, I was at a memorial service at St John's and the presence of two large lorries in the car park caused some problems parking. Loco duly facing Country now!

Another photo opportunity then Steve. I take it you will be making your way down to the Alton area over the next few weeks then.

Rostered this weekend are 31806 and 925, but that may not happen given the first came back today and needs some attention. Might be 34007 and 925.

Well as always there is always going down to the woods with some brush cutting equipment more hands the merrier !! It wont all get cut back on its own and I cant see the railway using the flail as none of the growth affects the operation of the railway it only stops photography and we know how far down the list that is .......

Quick question - what time is the charter due to finish as she's rostered to work the service trains that day?
