Will try and answer some queries quickly relating to the night shoot as going on holiday in half an hour for 3 days. Having seen the notice on the web site that they had no lights I made contact with Kieron offering a set of lights with operators from the 3p20 parcels group at the elr.

Me and my son loaded the car and set off for Haworth. Firstly can I say that the inter coperation between the kwvr and ourselves was absolutley first class. I can not fault the work ethic, co operation and enthusiasm from the people at the kwvr.

Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond their control the shoot was very late in starting and for those that stayed thet were rewarded with the 3 l n y locos lit together with the old steam shed as the backdrop. Unfortunately I have not yet been able to process my pictures, perhaps someone who was their has.

I remember when I first started running night shoots at the elr, mistakes were invariably made and they got more organised and better lit.

I am sure Kieron would be the first to admit it did not go to plan and we are sorry for that.

However should the kwvr wish to do another night shoot if we are available we will happily come and light it for them again. It was a pleasure to work with them on the evening and we wish them all the best in their future projects.

What everyone must remember is that the good people concerned have the interest of the kwvr at heart and without them trying different things to raise monies then things will not happen for the future like thse night shoots.

I have been unable to attend the gala but my son went on Saturday on a day rover and had a great time.

So please if their is another night shoot at the kwvr sheds its a superb backdrop and we will always do what we can to help and work together, after all we are all aiming to achieve the same objective and make preservation and events better all the time.

Thanks for the kind comments Alan. Unfortunately, due to it clashing, I couldn't attend the evening shoot so had to make do with shed lighting. I should mention there were more than a few shots that didn't work, but I was very happy with a couple of them.

Well done to the KWVR guys great 3 x days, even though the clouds seem to do their best to block the sun at the crucial time on far too many occasions!!!

A really good Gala it was so good I went back on Sunday for another go. The glorious autumn colours and sunny conditions did of course add a lot to it. The running was very good with excellent trips up the line and I really enjoyed the non-stops with 43106. Yesterday morning watching the two Ivatts climb up to Oakworth with sharp exhaust beats was great as was 80002 on its own with load 6. The negatives were the long wait in freezing conditions on Saturday night for the fish and chip special, perhaps renamed the "Two false starts and a stall special"! I think the only way the itinerary could have been improved was to have seen more of 1300, it came out to play rather late on.

I look forward to hearing what the visitor(s) will be in February. Suggestions? Well 44222 for a 4F themed gala and the return of Birch Grove would be nice.

A big thank you to all involved at KWVR for an excellent visit yesterday.

Good performances by all locos - many thanks to the crews.

Nice steam heat in most carriages.

Good runs with 41241/43106 & 1300/43924 combos, 43106 "express", 1300/957 and 7799 early morning full line trip.

Time keeping went out the window during the afternoon but didn't spoil a brilliant day.

Roll on March; hope 90733 is ready for then.

    Best Regards

Just a question why 1300 (BR 52322) can't do trips by herself. She's a class 3, compared to 957 which is class 2, so surely should be more powerful?

Perhaps 1300 allowed out solo at the March gala; caution following recent repairs perhaps?
