Looks like a nice leisurely day out for Tangmere. Nearly an hour back from Salisbury to Basingstoke gives enough time to stop at Andover.

May have a chance to be in Salisbury on Saturday. As I have not been on the station there for several years a few basic questions I hope someone can answer please - has it changed much/is it still an open platform and will the water stop happen with Tangmere in the platform or off the end/in a loop somewhere.

Chances are that it will take water in the down platform - i.e. adjacent to the main exit - and this may also be true for the return when you'll be able to see it leave by walking up platform 2.

Is it an open platform? Not that I'm aware of - I was approached when I visited in April, but seeing as I had a valid ticket, they didn't mind.
Tangmere will water in the station.

Thanks for that. If I'm able to get there I will try to get a platform ticket thing. Last time I was there was a special event Salisbury 150 (or something like that) with the M7 and a Class 50 doing shuttles and the club I was in had a sales stand on the down platform. Also the Green Standard too I think. Don't remember going since so I expect a lot has changed.

The Railway Touring Company website info says this will be travelling outbound via Surbiton while the current uksteam details have it routed via Brentford. I know these things can change even at the last minute but presume if the Surbiton info is correct then Tangmere will not be heading the way of Barnes, Chiswick and Brentford?

The "actual" times on RTC's web site match the UKsteam.info times exactly: Victoria d. 0944, Woking d. 1107. Also, it's very rare for tours departing from Victoria to travel via Wimbledon. When they're going straight down the LSWR mainline, they normally leave from Waterloo. The return is via Surbiton and Wimbledon to Waterloo.

This tour was originally supposed to run on a Sunday in September when it is easier to get paths down the LSWR mainline - I suspect they haven't updated the RTC website (as usual). I'd be 99% sure it will run via Staines.

Times posted on S E Gen also show Clapham Junction to be the Windsor side, and also Barnes & Hounslow too for the down trip, for those still in doubt about the route out of the capital.

Thanks for the clarification. Current problems at Barnes on the Richmond / Twickenham route. Presume it's the southern Vine Road crossing.

If all the Richmond/Whittton line trains have to go via Hounslow, this will cause pathing problems with or without the Hounslow & Kingston circulars. The tour might go via Olympia and Kew East junction, and rejoin the Hounslow line at Brentford when there is a space to allow it.

It would of been less of a problem to have stuck to the original Waterloo mainline route!

A number of services through Chiswick / Brentford / Hounslow showing up as cancelled in the next hour as part of the knock-on effect. Not sure which way to head with camera now.

Gambled and lost. Went to the Bollo Lane Kew Line crossing in case Tangmere was re-routed. But obviously this went via the original Chiswick / Brentford route or?
