Im overlooking churston right now, 4936 is turned to face north and in steam, doesn't look near working pressure though, so doubt it will move until tomorrow.

Shame no time were put anywhere ref. 4936 leaving wonder if anybody has pix's of it on route.

Had a great time on Holiday last week keeping a close eye on the P&D, I've added some phots to my site of 4936 and 4277 in action, as well as the out of ticket/dismantled loco's outside at Churston, with a sneaky look at 7827 and the 25 inside Paignton shed: Devon 2012 - a set on Flickr

Forgot to add, what's going on at Saltern Cove / Waterside ?, towards the end of my visit a road up to the trackbed had been built and there was a JCB and other plant on site, some major work happening over the winter ?.

I haven't been anywhere near Paignton in years, but might possibly be in the area on Saturday. I note there is a service running. Please could someone advise if Lydham Manor will be working? If so, which way does it face?

    Thanks.

But not for the year. Santa Specials, and - for the first time - they are running between Christmas and New Year: 3 return trips a day between 27th and 31st Dec

That's worth knowing, thanks, Stu - always on the look out for some steam after Christmas. In fact the West country isn't a bad place to be then - Bodmin has a steam festival and so does the West Somerset as well as trains running on the South Devon. Don't forget Dartmoor Railway although may not be steam - worth checking their website.

I notice the trains will be running from mid feb to November next year that's a lot of steam in the year to look forward to. Quite a lot of work for two engines assuming 5239 not back for the start of the season

Probably worth noting on here that the PS Kingswear Castle has been leased by the PDSR for next season, so you can have a water and rail steam fix in one day! Certainly something I'd like to try.

As far as i know the Kingswear castle will be on the dart for the foreseeable future. What can be better than a trip on one of Britains most picturesque steam lines followed by a trip on one of the most picturesque rivers in the UK aboard a real live coal powered paddle steamer. She was built for the dart and was even built ON the dart.
Don't forget we will be running after Christmas this year. 27th to 31st Dec.
And on 16th Feb our 2013 season starts. We plan to be back to a home fleet of 3 again, with 5239 well on her way to a return.

Great stuff. Good idea opening in Feb. It includes the only half term holiday in the year where no trains ran.
Here's hoping for a year without quite so much major expenditure on boilers, water works, new stations etc.!!!

Does anyone know, please, what will be working the line on 29 December? Trying to decide with friends where to go for post Christmas 'fix'.

29th is planned to be 4277. 7827 is spare, to cold to be playing on tenders! 5239 is slowly becoming one big bit again instead of many smaller ones.

I recently came across a photo of 4588 parked up the headshunt at Paignton: EX GWR 4500 Class 2-6-2T No. 4588 at Paignton | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
It's been turned and moved from Churston where I saw it in September. I'm just curiously wondering what the reason for this was? Perhaps just to put something on view for the public during the winter season? Any info greatly appreciated.
