    Talking to a friend last night, Carnforth are using Welsh coal at the moment so it would be more difficult to see if the loco was in steam as hardly any smoke is produced, so who knows.... it may well have had its test the other day :D

    A friend of a friend told me that his sister's husband had been talking to a reliable contact of somebody who has heard that West Coast have clad 45569 with the body of one of the Class 47 diesels from their scrap line in order that they can test it without anybidy noticing. So next time you see a West Coast 47, check whether it's emitting lots of smoke amd steam (no, on second thoughts, that could just be a normal WCRC 47).
