I read that the Alycidon (a mighty machine from the DPS) Pathfinder tour on December 29th has been "postponed" until next April. One reason being the DBS crewing situation. :mmph:

Yep, maybe it's not too late for martin to "offer" the services of 22 to Pathfinder. Unlikely I know, but it's a thought.

Not sure how that would help when its DBS not being bothered to supply a drive again rather than it being Deltic 9 or 22 ( I think 2's almost ready for the Mainline too now).

To be honest, the redated tour is better in many respects. On the original date, the only bit of the run in daylight would've been Huddersfield to Edinburgh. At least with it running in April there'll be a lot more daylight around. Plus it's coming back over the S&C rather than Tyne Valley and ECML. Rather tempted to book on it.

55002 Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry looks like it's mainline registered again, seen a phot of it taking Hamilton to Shildon at Darlington earlier.

Yep, there's a short video clip in the Steam section of the pair leaving York. Splendid sight.
Alycidon, 55002, 55022, ready for action on the main line, Let's hope they travel the length and breadth of the country so everybody can enjoy them.

Quite possible one of them is in line for some more rather unusual work...

The Deltics are fine machines IMHO but I was very surprised by the lack of interest from the diesel boys when I attempted to follow the progress of 55.022 hauling a railtour from Linlithgo to Lincoln on Friday. The yahoo group 'uk-rail' which is predominantly for diesel gen had just two reports of the southbound leg but had three reports of a 450 unit running around on a ECS move. I thought that was very sad. <BJ>

I presume so, people were hinting RSG would stay in Scotland after the Lincoln tour if it was judged fit enough (one of the engines has been causing issue I believe), sadly it seems it went to Carnforth ECS on Sunday so looks like it might be off the menu :( .

Oh, I hadn't heard anything about an engine issue. I've just read Martin walkers note on their web site and the general impression is that all went well on the last job. They DID have a long standing problem with a slow re fuelling valve but that was resolved in Scotland. I hope all three of em are out and about many times in 2013.
Every time I see or hear one I say a silent word of thanks to Gerry Feinnes.
