I was waiting just past Newbury, standing on the bridge where the old Southampton line used to fork away. A 125 went through on time, and it seemed then as if Tornado tried to get away on time at 13.50 (judging by the exhaust billowing on the horizon), but if she did, she did not succeed, and then it all went quiet for 10 minutes or so and this time she did depart. Still lost her feet a couple of times as she passed me. I wonder if they had to get the sanders out at the station?

Disclaimer: This all may be totally false, as I could not see back to the station and maybe they just wanted to let off some exhaust! Maybe someone here was at Newbury and could say what the hold up was?

Anyway, video just uploading, I'll post it later.

    Meanwhile, two screen captures:

Tornado 11 mins late departing from Bristol. Going well through Keynsham. Keep warm if you go out. It was 0 degrees at 7pm.

I was going to go to North Camp but it's ruddy cold out there and some of the roads haven't been treated as I discovered on the way home from work on the pushbike!

Thanks James - I decided to make use of the water, though I had wondered about the light on the boiler and train on the other side of the embankment. Hadn't seen so much water there before.

I don't think anyone has! The river Avon was 1/4 mile wide on Sunday between Keynsham and Swineford.

Very nice images. Well done. <BJ>

Back in the warm now, practically a blur here as she races through Swindon.

Will upload the video tonight but it'll be made public in the morning.

60163 passing Ranmore Common, west of Dorking, this morning. If I'd known the sun was going to come out and the exhaust wasn't going to get blown down, I'd have gone the other side of the line and got a front three-quarters record shot. Oh well!

Apparently she is using 6024's support coach? Is there any reason why she is using it? I thought 6024's was having a little overhaul itself?

According to the A1 Trust website, the A1 support coach BCK E21249 is still being refurbished. Tornado will be using 6024's support coach BSK W35333 until the end of the year, when it too will be going for overhaul.
