Do you mean the only Mk1, or the only carriage of any description? If the latter, the IoWSR have one of their LBSC coaches in this livery.

The ex-Bluebell BR suburbans are the three at N. Tynesdide. It is good to see the ones at Llangollen being restored and put to good use, these coaches are now relatively rare but non-corridor stock is much more representative of what most people used to travel in on local services.

EOR recently acquired some suburbans, can't wait to see them restored.

There is a very sad looking Suburban CL in York Yard - part of the National Collection and as far as I know last painted about 35 years ago!

One of the other two (46130) from Llangolen spent the summer of 2011 at MoSI in Manchester.

Has Carriage & Wagon work stopped on the Class 117 DMU, as it seems to have fallen off the update radar?

    Three reasons
1.doors are a big maintenance and safty issue
    2. General passenger preference. They like a table and the openness of TSOs
    3. Commercial departments like buffet cars and corridor access. Loads of income!

It's the real world not what we may like.

There is also the factor that there were far fewer non-corridor Mk 1s built, they didn't survive in BR usage for as long, and I believe were more prone to corrosion. The Bluebell had some at one time, and sold them to North Tyneside where a huge amount of work was done to restore them. For many railways, if they were to have to put that amount of work in, they would have preferred to restore the older wooden bodied carriages instead.
