What utter rubbish reporting! From my free local rag.
Why do these people always refer to locos as THE Tornado or whatever. This first steam train to stop at Wokingham in 50 years? I'm sure I caught Daylight Railtours trips from there 10 or so years ago. I think there have been others since. Braunton is going to Worcester tomorrow?? Finally I'm sure the people on the bridge enjoy being referred to as "trainspotters!
Oh I forgot, it was made up of VSOE stock!

Not sure why you are getting so hot under the collar about a local newspaper article, we all know that they rarely bother to check and get their facts right, and since the vast majority of readers don't know any better they don't care.
If you really want to do something contact them, put them right, and offer to be their railway 'expert', you never know they may even take you up on that.

It is very annoying when they get things so obviously wrong. Just because a lot of readers etc may not know any different, that is not an excuse to give incorrect info.
Does this reflect on other press articles on different subjects?

Therefore they need to be told, or else they will never know, it's your local paper, tell them not us.

I think its a plus that steam get any mention at all in the local press and our local Reading Chronicle has at least given space. I suppose they need to be directed to the right places (this forum?) to get 100% facts, but probably not the interest at the paper group. Shame really, but then with all the hundreds of other subjects which followers would like to see mention of, and don't appear, count blessings !? i actually think there would be more benefit in the paper publishing ideas of when dads can take kids to see steam coming through. Although Twyford doesn't seem to need that advert; platforms crowded for steam especially Tornado already.

I'm not sure I would regard NatPres as the ideal source of 100% facts.

You seem surprised you don't get quality reporting at a free paper in a modest Thames Valley town...

Readings a great place. AND, caught the 15.11 HST to Paddington this afternoon, left at 15.42; train manager 'sorry for the late running of this service, but we're running on one engine' . Wonder how many people knew what he was on about. My return 19.45 Padd to Plymouth; brakes on at maidenhead, coasted to Reading (God knows why); Train manager ' we are now just approaching NEWTON ABBOTT and will be there in about 2 minutes. Well thats one way to make the punters actually LAUGH !!! Perhaps we should report that in the local !
